While watching the 3rd released trailer for Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron, my sister and I started to brainstorm about which Infinity Gem would be put into Marvel's latest installment. So far we have seen:
The Space Gem
The very first Infinity Gem to hit the big screen in both Captain America: The First Avenger and Marvel's [The Avengers](movie:9040). This gem can be used for teleportation and as a weapon, from what we've seen Armin Zola, German scientist for HYDRA, create for HYDRA leader, Johann Schmidt aka Red Skull.
The Mind Gem
The second gem to hit cinemas in Marvel's Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier's end credit scene. This one wasn't confirmed as an official Infinity Gem at first, but over time was identified based on these facts:
In The Avengers:
1) When Loki turns Hawkeye and other SHIELD agents against SHIELD.
2) When Loki uses the Mind Gem to speak with the Other in space to discuss their attack on Earth.
3) When The Avengers are bickering in the lab in the presense of the Mind Gem about SHIELD's Phase Two, which was to use the Tesseract as a weapon of mass destruction. Sound familiar?
The Reality Gem
The third gem to appear on the big screen in [Thor: The Dark World](movie:206462). This gem is fluid or "ever-changing" as The Allfather puts it, which makes it seem as if the Aether is changing it's own reality. In the end credits scene, we see Lady Sif and Volstagg deliver the Aether to Taneleer Tivan , aka the Collector. They state that it was "unwise to keep two Infinity Gems together", seeing as they already have the Tesseract and the Infinity Gauntlet in their Weapons Vault on Asgard.
The Power Gem
The fourth gem to be shown on the big screen in [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073). This gem is, obviously, very powerful. So powerful in fact, that this is the first Gem Thanos looks for. Luckily for us, the audience, we see that this Gem is placed with the Nova Corps safely on Xandar instead of with the Titan of Death on his rock palace.
Now for the Theory!
In our recent discovery during the 3rd trailer for [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035), Marvel decided to show us I tiny clip of our favorite android, Vision, played by Paul Bettany (who by coincidence plays the voice of JARVIS). Take a look:
Due to the awesomeness of the trailer, you might miss out on those last few seconds featuring Vision. Did you notice anything catch your eye? Perhaps something glowing or shining from our android's noggin?
Well I sure did! From what I've seen in different articles and such, Paul Bettany has teased that Vision indeed possesses the Soul Gem. I would believe this if I didn't have my theories.
In the comics, Adam Warlock possesses the Soul Gem and is taken from him after Thanos basically smashes his head in to receive the Gem . From what I've heard and read from other articles, Marvel might possibly bring in Adam Warlock for Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
With this knowledge in mind, why would Marvel bring in the Soul Gem so early into their universe? Why not wait for Adam Warlock to appear just like in the comics?
While dwelling on these questions, my sister and I developed an amazing theory. What if, by some chance, it's not the Soul Gem Vision possesses but the TIME GEM?
In the very first Avengers 2: Age of Ultron trailer we are shown this scene:
What seems absolutely different about this scene than the other scenes we were shown? In this picture, it shows Steve Rogers walking through some sort of party or perhaps a club. But this club looks quite different then any other club in this century. It looks like it could be a 1940's club IN THE 1940'S. If so, then how was Steve able to get there? With this in mind, we have two options:
1) A possible vision or manipulation by Ms. Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlett Witch
2) A possible result of the Time Gem
So what do you think? Do you think this is a possible theory or could I just be insane? Comment below to state your opinion on this possible theory.
