So we've known since October 15th 2014 that we will be getting a Flash film in 2018, we also know that actor Ezra Miller will be portraying the scarlet speedster. One thing we still don't know is which iteration of The Flash will be hitting the big screen in the next coming years.
Now there had been rumours since day one that it would be Barry Allen that Ezra Miller is portraying, but it has since been stated as an assumption on the day by a reporter because of the CW show that had recently began.

Of course Ezra could still be playing the creator of the speed force himself Barry Allen, but I'd like to delve deeper into reasonable logic to determine the most likely candidates for Ezra to be playing.
Let's start off with Jay Garrick, now I know what you're thinking, hell no. Now I agree, I think it is by far the least likely outcome we'll see but I have to entertain the idea of Ezra dawning the metal helmet taking us back to the golden age of comics. Imagine if that actually happened, we'd see Ben Affleck's brooding Batman, Henry Cavill's righteous Superman & Gal Gadot's fearless Wonder Woman all standing next to a skinny Ezra Miller with a tin can on his head. It would be quite the shot.
Moving on, Bart Allen, an interesting idea, Ezra Miller is only 22 and we often see actors as old as 28 play teenage heroes, so we could assume Ezra could look the part of Bart. The main implication would be what about Barry? He'd have to exist for Bart to exist and why would they skip out on him? We would miss out on iconic friendships with character likes Hal Jordan. I think it's safe to say Bart won't be our Flash just yet, but would you like to see him in a future film?
Now here's the fun part, we've talked about Bart but what about his great grandpa? Barry Allen, the speedster who created the speed force. Barry is possibly the most famous Flash and the 2nd Flash after Jay Garrick, he is the current Flash in the New 52 run and is such an iconic character he was revived as The Flash after 23 years of being dead. This is one of the most popular choices for Ezra because everything is about him at the moment, the comics, the CW series, people just can't get enough of Barry Allen. However Ezra doesn't seem to fit the Barry Allen description, no blonde hair and blue eyes, hasn't got the physique and just doesn't strike me as Barry. Of course it's not as if DC haven't taken liberties in looks when it comes to castings, Oliver Queen losing the iconic goatee and the blonde hair for 'Arrow' and Barry Allen losing his blonde hair for 'The Flash', however these are TV series and the casting crews are different So far in the DCCU they have stuck quite firmly on the comic looks (bar Aquaman) so why stray on a loom that wouldn't be hard to replicate? All this being said I feel there is still a very strong possibility Ezra Miller could be giving Grant Gustin a run for his money and dawning the Barry Allen mantle himself.
And finally we move on to my favorite Flash, (yes I am going to be very bias) Wally West, the epitome of wise cracks and pure fun. This is the Flash that I and many other comic book fans grew up loving and creating a deep bond with, whether it was the 'Justice League' & 'Justice League: Unlimited' cartoons or the comics, everything was Wally West. Now Wally is a ginger & freckled guy who will always be looking for a joke to break down any serious situation and bring comic relief to some very dark DC stories. Now I know Ezra isn't ginger but that can be overseen, seeings hair colour hasn't really been as an obstacle in comic book movies anymore as they would rather get an actor that's perfect for the role rather than just a look-a-like who can't play them, we can presume that we can look past that for now. Ezra in his everyday life is known to be a very fun guy, always joking and smiling and generally being Wally West, his charisma let alone his talent could bring Wally to life and give us a burst of that 'Justice League' nostalgia.
Now I'm not going to expect you to just take personality matches alone as a valid theory on why Ezra could be playing Wally on the big screen.
Last year over at CW the 'Arrow' writers wanted to bring in Ted Kord aka Blue Beetle to the show, so they got in touch with the big guns at WB/DC to see if they would be aloud to use him, they got rejected. They were told that they had plans to use this character themselves, so the Arrow writers decided to go with Ray Palmer (The Atom) instead. Everyone's happy, great.
The thing that makes me think that Wally West will be our big screen Flash is that they must of had to do the same thing with The Flash, so you could assume the writers contacted WB/DC and asked if they can do a show on The Flash, now why would WB/DC allow this when they've known for a while they're wanting to use this HUGE character on the big screen? The only reason I can think of is that CW asked to use Wally West and then had to compromise with Barry Allen due to WB/DC wanting to use Wally West themselves. The reason I think CW wanted Wally is because the Barry Allen we watch on the CW series acts much more Wally West than Barry Allen. A key example of this is in the Flash/Arrow crossover where Barry goes and casually grabs some Sushi and just kicks back in the 'Arrow Cave' with his feet up, which when I saw I instantly felt like I was watching a show on Wally West.
In conclusion, I personally think we'll be seeing Ezra miller put on that lovely red costume and make us laugh like we're kids again.
