The Avengers is easily my favorite movie of all time. That being said, I love everything about it. The story, the casting, the heroes and villains, etc. But whenever I watch superhero movies, I always wish that they could have kept the story almost exactly the same as the original comic book. Therefore, here is my casting for not only the Avengers, but the entire Avengers trilogy.
The first movie would be based off of the first issue that all the heroes united, Avengers #1. In this, Loki mind controlled the Hulk to go on a rampage, which led to Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man and the Wasp to unite to stop him. After that, I want to use villains not yet explored in the films.
Steve Rogers/Captain America
Daniel Craig has shown he could be both "a good soldier and a good man" in the 007 movies, and could easily fill these shoes as Cap tries to understand the new world he lives in. He could also fade in and out from compassionate to killer quickly.
Tony Stark/Iron Man
Now this may be the hardest to recast, noting we have such a great Tony Stark as it is, but if I had to, I would probably choose Alan Tudyk. Not many will recognize his face because he is primarily a voice actor, but I believe he could pull off the snidely jerk and billionaire genius role all at once.
Michael Fassbender is both dark and brooding yet has a sense of being heroic. He could easily be the god of thunder along with these other heroes.
Hank Pym/Ant-Man and Janet Van Dyne/Wasp
The role of Hank Pym is a hard one to fill, but, if this were to be the Avengers first outing, and he is still not that experienced, I bet Brett Dalton could fill the shoes of a multiple personality crazed genius pretty well. As we've seen in Agents of SHIELD, he can have both the good guy and bad guy personas, which would be perfect for Pym. Plus, he's only in his thirties, meaning he could evolve the role along with himself as time went on, hopefully into becoming Giant Man, Yellowjacket and Goliath. Reese Witherspoon could fit well with Dalton and could pull off an obscure heroine like this one.
Bruce Banner/The Hulk
Steve Carell could be a great nerdy scientist that just wants to be helped. The underlying anguish could be shown through him better than almost anyone.
Matt Damon has the past history of being an assassin and could fill these shoes perfectly. With being Jason Bourne, he had practice of being serious and being trained in fighting technique.
Mos Def would be a fun guy to pick as Black Panther. He could bring both the classic Wakandan heritage and the dry humor to the character.
Carol Danvers/Ms. Marvel
Emily Blunt is just perfect for this role. With rumors going around she may already be Ms. Marvel, I guess Marvel may agree with me.
Like the heroes and plots, I want to incorporate characters not yet used in film. Loki is an exception because he is their origin villain.
Being the central and first antagonist for the team, we need someone both threatening and large in scale. But, since we are sticking to the original story, Loki is behind the scenes for the most part. Therefore, the actor must have a good thematic voice for the scenes of mind control on the Hulk. My oddball choice for Loki is Hank Azaria. While he is known as a comedic actor, he can easily pull off the snake like creepiness that we would need in Loki.
Kang is one of my favorite all time villains because he thinks he is the good guy when he comes back in time to kill Cap. While he has a history in superhero movies, I think Timothy Dalton would fit it perfectly. While he is now older, I believe he would be great.
William Dafoe has the psychotic personality and that disturbing voice that would be great for one of Cap's greatest adversaries and double as well as the leader of the Masters of Evil.
So what do you think? Do you agree with these choices? Is anyone mad I don't have Black Widow, Nick Fury, Thanos or Ultron? Well that is because I wanted this casting to be different from the current movies in as many ways as possible.
Thank you for reading this fan casting!
