As a young adult (21), I haven't really had the opportunity to build my collections as much as I would like. I have been collecting movies for years, and a good portion of the ones I own have been used. I tend to buy from FYE, Family Video, and a few local stores that sell used movies. My collection of movies is something that I have invested time and money into, and I am happy to have so many choices when I feel like watching something.
As of right now, I own 434 movies (273 DVD, 161 Blu Ray). I also own all available seasons of Arrow, Community, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Psych, and a few seasons of Sherlock (BBC) and New Girl. I am crazy excited for the complete box set of Parks and Recreation coming out, and that will be a part of my collection as soon as it becomes available. Usually, I would say that I buy anywhere from 40-100 movies a year, depending on deals that I can find and what comes out. My focus lately has been towards trying to get limited editions, specifically steel books, of movies that I enjoy. I would say that the portion of movies that I am most proud of is my Marvel collection. I own all of the Marvel movies (minus Elektra and the Blade series), and I watch them on a fairly regular basis. My favorite Marvel movie thus far is Guardians of the Galaxy, which brings me to my next collection.
As a huge fan of the movie, I have been trying to get my hands on as many related things as I can. Unfortunately, I have not been able to build it quite as much as I wish. I am looking forward to more Guardians related things to come out. As a big comic book fan, I also have begun to collect these wood wall plaques that I found at Meijer/Gordmans. I haven;t bought one in quite a while, but I am looking forward to being in a situation where I can put them on a wall and display them. I love them because they are retro, colorful, and just flat out awesome. As of now, I own twenty of them.
While I am a big fan of comics, my first love nerd wise was Lord of the Rings. Unfortunately, I was but a wee lad when the movies came out, so most memorabilia is collectibles now, and out of my price range. So needless to say, my Lord of the Rings/Hobbit collection is a modest one.
I also own a few book so that I can supplement and grow in my knowledge of all things Marvel.
Anyways, that is basically it. Those are my things that could possibly be considered a collection. Thanks a bunch, and happy collecting!
