What really goes through the mind of Tom Cruise, honestly? Is he all ‘have some breakfast, nip to the gym, hang out of a plane?’ Wonders will never cease and by the looks of the brand new trailer teaser for the next Mission Impossible film, neither will he.

Returning for his fifth film in the franchise - sneakily subtitled Rogue Nation - Cruise has Jack Reacher helmer, Christopher McQuarrie, who has taken the torch (or is it a fuse?) from director Brad Bird following Ghost Protocol. As expected with all impossible missions, details are being kept on the down low for Rogue Nation, but the guess is that this aforementioned group are the lightly discussed ‘anti-IMF’, trained in all the same methods as our heroes but will probably apply their skills to all manner of horrible deeds like global terrorism and littering.

Thankfully, Ethan isn’t alone in the fight and the likes of William Brandt (Jeremy Renner) and British boffin, Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg) are returning to the action too. There’s also the franchises lucky charm Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, who has as many MI films under his belt now as Cruise. Together they’ll be donning spy suits, secret gadgets and frantically looking at holographic computer screens as the classic theme tune kicks in, and the Cruiser hitches a flight we don’t think he’s allowed to be on. Great stuff.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the full trailer that will be arriving over the next few hours, probably wielding more insane action than you can shake a stick at. Chances are we’ll also get a better look at the new supporting cast additions that come in the form of Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson and Sean Harris as the films big bad. As for the full mission, you can park yourself down for that when Mission: Impossible 5 - Rogue Nation arrives in cinemas July 31 later this year.

What do you think so far? Are you excited for the return of Ethan Hunt? Or do you feel that this mission could and should possibly be his last? Sound off in the comments below.
