Following weeks of speculation and nervous foot-tapping as we waited in anticipation for the baby name to drop, finally Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have spilled the beans.
The Hollywood couple have finally yielded to our frustration when Reynolds disclosed the name on The Tonight Show over the weekend.
During his visit, the host first started with a joke:
"You did say a few months ago, before she was born, that you were going to name her Excalibur Anaconda Reynolds [...] So can we call her Anna at least - short for Anaconda?"
To which Reynolds retorted:
"That is not the child's name [...] It's Butternut Summersquash."
Changing up to a slightly more serious gear, the proud father finally caved in:
"It's James [...] Everyone knows."
Considering that Blake is no stranger to having a masculine name herself, 'James' really comes as no surprise.
I think it's a gorgeous, if somewhat unusual, choice! But why the months of secrecy?
Naturally, Reynolds has the perfect answer to that question:
"I didn’t want to be the first guy screaming it out to the media. Because as we know, little girls turn into teenage girls and little teenage girls sometimes scan through the archives and go, ‘Why did you do that?’”
Fair enough. All that remains is for us to now resume our normal lives and sleep soundly tonight because this particular baby name mystery has now been solved.
We send our best wishes to the happy parents!
What do you think of the name 'James' for a little girl?
