Sometimes it's nice to enjoy a horror film once in a while that you don't have to put too much thought into. Across the years I have come across many horror films that have left me enjoying them more for how ridiculous they are rather than your more serious-sided films, this article is just for fun as this is my first one and I know there are so many more out there; these are just 5 of the ones I wanted to highlight:
Army of Darkness (1992)
Ash gets taken back in time, captured as a slave, thrown in a pit, then has to battle an army of the undead and his own dead counterpart to retrieve the 'Necronomicon' so that he can return home. Sounds easy, right? This film is famous in its own right, although it does follow on from the Evil Dead films, it's more comedy than horror than the other two films in the franchise. Don't get me wrong, the other two had their comedy appeal, but this one had a little more and that's why it's on my list. It's great to see that even though they spent around $13m - much more than the other two put together to make it - they still kept the corniness to it.
Braindead (Dead Alive) (1992)
Rats and Monkeys get it on big time and create something horrifying! The babies carry a disease which is passed on by their saliva. And poor Lionel's evil mum gets bitten and dies... which is great for Lionel, he's free from her evil possessiveness at last, right? Wrong! The old bat comes back to life, making Lionel's life a living hell, quite literally! She starts eating everyone, turning more people into her evil zombified versions of themselves. Lionel then has to look after, poor man could open up his own care home, then there is this baby and a love story chucked in the mix! I've watched this film countless times and will never get bored of it! I love this film and all its corniness!
Evil Aliens (2005)
A crew from 'Weird World' the TV show where they investigate UFO and Alien reports/sightings, go to investigate a young girl in wales who was abducted with her boyfriend and is now pregnant by the 'Aliens' but this is the one time it actually is Aliens! they then have to survive and get off the farm alive! I must of watched this film quite a few times, it has to be one of my favorites, at first i thought bad acting, where is this going? but it ended up being one of the funnest horrors I have seen ever! so much so I've made everyone I have ever spoken to about horror comedy's watch this film! A must watch if you enjoy these types of films!
Monster in the Closet (1986)
When people and their pets start winding up dead in children's closets, a mother, her son and a friend start to investigate and what they find is far from human. This film although is PG it still classed as 'Horror'. I remember watching this years ago and i still remember it to this day, not for being scary but for being so bad and corny it was brilliantly funny! Also i couldn't believe when i saw that it had a young Paul walker starring as 'Professor'. One of my favorite parts of this film was when a new report was aired telling everyone, to Destroy all closets! and images of people everywhere of them doing just that. This film doesn't require much thought and defiantly worth a watch!
One eyed monster (2008)
A group of adult entertainers (including Ron Jeremy) travel to the mountains to film there next movie, only to be attacked by a sex crazed alien, who takes possession of Ron Jeremy's penis which detaches itself and goes on a killing rampage, the only way to stop it, is to make it reach 'climax'. I watch this a few weeks back, came across it while looking through B-rated movies and thought i would give it ago, what can i say it sounded funny. First thing i notice was the bad acting, totally should of seen that coming due to the fact they are meant to be adult entertainers, then i notice Ron Jeremy is played by none other than Ron Jeremy himself (maybe he needed the extra cash?) but the bad acting and outrageous scenes all fit together to make it a corny, WTF, hilarious film, need to point out that there is no actually porn in this film, it's just very suggestive, if you are looking for anything like that i suggest you look at the other films Ron Jeremy has done. :)
Which of these 5 movies did you enjoy?
Would love to hear about the ones you have watched and what you thought about them, also let me know what you think about the article below as like i mentioned at the start it is my first one, thanks for reading! For any of my future post please check out the link below.
