Sources have informed our friends over at Badass Digest that Joe and Anthony Russo (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War) have finalized their deal to direct both parts of Avengers: Infinity War.
The movies will shoot back-to-back in 2016 and 2017 respectively.
No writers are attached to the project yet, however Badass Digest has heard that Marvel is looking to Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the writing team behind both Captain America movies, as well as Thor: The Dark World and Agent Carter, to pen the script for these two films.
This is great news! The Russo Brothers are responsible for one of the very best additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is surprising given that they are known for directing comedies like Community in the past. Yet, we feel if anyone is up for the challenge of replacing Joss Whedon on Avengers, no one will be more up to the challenge than Joe and Anthony Russo.
Expect an official announcement soon.
