Sad news has broke today, X-Men fans. Actress Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) has announced today that she will leave the X-Men franchise following 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse.
Lawrence, who plays the shape-shifting mutant known as Mystique told MTV News when the subject of Apocalypse came up: “It’s my last one, actually.”
The actress did not elaborate any further on the matter.
Well, while we don't want to jump to any conclusions, fans have to know that not all our favorite mutants will end up surviving X-Men: Apocalypse. Now, we're not saying Mystique will end up biting the big one, but you never know, right?
Bryan Singer is back to direct the next chapter in the X-Men franchise, which will also star series newcomers Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey; Tye Sheridan (Joe) as Cyclops; and Alexandra Shipp (Aaliyah in Lifetime’s biopic) as Storm.
X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27, 2016.
