With Zack Snyder's '[Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](movie:711870)' over a year away... Only rumors and hype can be found all over the web. But here and there, bits and pieces of truth can be found. That truth comes in the form of statements released directly from the actor's mouths themselves.
The future Aquaman, Jason Mamoa had this to say about his character, and his trust in Director Zack Snyder via USA Today:
“You know, I don’t know what it’s going to be like yet. But I’m in for the long haul, and it’s an honor. Zack [Snyder], you know, he had me at hello; literally when he told me what he wanted to do with the character and what he wanted to do with the world. There’s no script written yet for certain things, but I listen to his ideas. I trust him. You just got to believe in that.”
Sounds to me like "[Aquaman](movie:264237)" isn't that secure in his early appearances in the DC Universe. But mentioned he's in it for the "Long Haul," which tells me we can expect Aquaman to be a staple in future DC movies.
Mamoa also went on to mention:
“One thing that’s really cool is I have a 6 year-old and a 7 1/2 year-old, and I’m known for playing rough characters and they’re not really allowed to see those things, so it’s going to be exciting just for my kids to see poppa play with Batman and Wonder Woman and Superman and so on.
“If it’s really, really, really dark then obviously my kids– it’s not coming out until… 2016 is what, Batman V Superman? Justice League is like 2018? I think they’ll be alright by then. They’ll probably be like ‘Dad we don’t even like Batman anymore!"
It just goes to show that even Aquaman himself doesn't know the future of the character. He, like the rest of us, will just have to put our faith in Zack Snyder's "Direction." And just hope come March 25, 2016 we won't be let down..
