In the latest Empire magazine issue, Neill Blomkamp talked about the next movie from the Alien franchise, tentatively entitled [Alien 5](movie:1468950). Blomkamp promises that it won't "tread on the toes" of franchise kickstarter Ridley Scott's upcoming [Prometheus 2](movie:512281).

In Blomkamp's words:

"I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping Prometheus a little bit," reveals Blomkamp. "One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make."

The South African sci-fi genius also spoke on the title of what we currently think will be Alien 5.

"I sent the title I wanted to Ridley," says Blomkamp. "It's kinda quite bold, but it gives away too much if I say the title. But in the event that it doesn't work, I'm dead in the water..."

So, it looks like this might be more of an Alien 2.5, as we've heard Blomkamp say in past interviews that he didn't enjoy the direction of the other sequels.

Hopefully, whatever it's called, this film does better than [Chappie](movie:466720) and [Elysium](movie:44956), which were both fairly unsuccessful.
