The WWE's main moneymaker, John Cena is hitting Hollywood to round up more fans for the parent company. Cena's route, however, is planned differently than his comrades.
Former wrestlers Dwayne Johnson and Dave Bautista are performing well in the action genre. Cena took a stab at action films with THE MARINE and 12 ROUNDS, but this time around, he is making the switch to comedy.
He'll star in TRAINWRECK, a film helmed by Judd Apatow and starring Amy Schumer and then has a juicy role in THE NEST, with Tina Fey and Schumer. Schumer used to date Nick Nemeth, who wrestles under the name Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler and Cena are good friends. Both movies will come out later this year.
Cena claims fans see him as the action good guy each and every week on the various WWE shows, so he feels a change of direction will open doors to an entirely new audience.
