Good news, everybody! In what could prove to be a pretty fantastic turn of events for major Marvel fans everywhere - and especially for any members of the Captain Marvel-supporting Carol Corps - it looks as though we might finally have some kind of confirmation that Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, will actually be appearing in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Now, at the moment this is just a rumor emanating from Latino-Review's El Mayimbe, who recently revealed that...

"...the studio has cast the role of Carol Danvers & keeping it top secret. I'm also being told we will first see her in [Avengers: Age of Ultron] as originally written in previous drafts of the screenplay!"

...but combined with previous, distinctly similar rumors, and Joss Whedon admitting a few days back that "yes," we will indeed "be seeing Marvel characters who aren't yet in the preview photos," it's looking increasingly likely that we will, in actual fact, get our first glimpse of Carol Danvers in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The two big questions now?

1. Just Who'll Play Her?

Well, as the rumor said: if Marvel has indeed cast their Carol Danvers, they're keeping it very much under wraps for now. Emily Blunt, Katee Sackhoff and Katheryn Winnick have all proven themselves fan-favorites for the role over the past few months, but there's little to suggest that Marvel doesn't have their own, outside-the-box casting in mind. Game of Thrones' Natalie Dormer has been a recent suggestion by many, and one that could yet sway a vote or two.

I wouldn't write any of the candidates off just yet, though - with Winnick in particular fitting the modern look of Carol Danvers pretty darned perfectly, but all fulfilling one or more of the likely prerequisites for playing Captain Marvel.

Equally as important as casting, though?

2. Just How Will We See Carol Arrive in Age of Ultron?

Now, if the rumors that we'll only get a brief glimpse of Carol in a post-credits scene are to be believed - and that seems a pretty reasonable assertion, so let's assume that they are - then there's only so much of her we're going to see.

There are several ways that could go, though:

a) We Could See Captain Marvel's Origin

After all, if she's set to appear in several Marvel movies before her solo debut - as seems increasingly likely - we may well get the chance to see the accident (in the comic-books it's a Kree attack, but that may be less likely in the MCU) that imbues her with her powers in a post-credits scene.

More likely, perhaps, is that:

b) We Could See Carol Before She's Captain Marvel

After all, she was originally an ace air-force officer - a role in which she starred in several Marvel comics before eventually becoming Ms. Marvel (and eventually Captain Marvel).

Could we be set for a brief introduction to a new military attache to the Avengers, perhaps? A certain 'Captain' Carol Danvers...?

Or, alternatively:

c) Could we see Carol Appear as Iron Man's Answer to Captain America?

She was, after all, very much on Iron Man's side during the comic-book Civil War - could we see her being recruited by Tony during a post-credits sequence as some sort of official, government-authorized alternative to Captain America?

For one thing, it'd give Marvel a way around the awkward naming of the character - she could initially be given a less exotic code-name - or even be dubbed the new Captain America - before taking on her own, Marvel-ous name after Civil War's conclusion...

No matter what - I'm just hoping we get the chance to see her sooner rather than later...
