What a great waste of three hours. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer folks, but this one didn’t do it for me. I was hoping for a slow, meditative, art house-style odyssey and instead I get a sappy pile of Hollywood balderdash complete with gimcrack CGI effects. WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THIS MOVIE?! It’s shallow, vapid, and BORING. And yes, I “got it” and no, it didn’t “go over my head.” This is pseudo-intellectual junk designed to stimulate American philistines AND it’s a prime example of what I dislike about post-Millennium filmmaking. Even David Fincher, the fine actors, and lovely visuals couldn’t prevent this doomed ship from sinking. Paramount and Warner Bros. successfully wasted $150 million. Major womp womp. This one joins the ranks of my “Most Hated” list. Yuck.
