Canadian born actress Alberta Watson, who is best known for her performances in 24 and Nikita, has died aged 60.
Watson, who appeared in season 4 of 24, as well both the original and rebooted Nikita series, died on Saturday following a long battle with cancer. In a statement, Watson's agency stated:
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the luminous Alberta Watson. Alberta died in the arms of her beloved [husband] Ken on Saturday March 21st at Kensington Hospice after a long and incredibly courageous battle with cancer.
She appeared as Erin Driscoll, the new head of Los Angeles CTU, in the fourth season of 24. She immediately made a name for herself by firing Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) from the organization.
She also played Madeline in both the original La Femme Nikita cable series, as well as the 2010 CW Nikita reboot. This was her final role.
Her other television credits included Law & Order, The Equalizer and Buck James, while she also appeared on the big screen in films such as Helen, The Prince and Me, The Sweet Hereafter and Spanking the Monkey.
