It's kind of a travesty. The Elder Scrolls Online has seemingly endless potential. ZeniMax Online Studios were gifted one of the greatest RPG landscapes to have ever graced the video game industry. But it goes to show, that in order for a world to excel, you've got to have someone like Bethesda keeping that flame alive.
They know exactly what works when it comes to creating a great RPG, and we're all continuously in a fluctuating state of elation and anticipation when it comes to this developer. But seriously Bethesda, if we don't see Fallout 4 at E3 this year, there will be riots I tells, ya! RIOTS! But simply because The Elder Scrolls Online didn't exactly blow our minds, does that mean that Bethesda should ignore it for The Elder Scrolls 6?
Ignoring Elder Scrolls Online
The Elder Scrolls Online is unusual, especially since after its reception the title is still on the way to the XBOX One and PS4. Perhaps a number of its most glaring issues will be ironed out for its release date, but assuredly the game won't be all that different for Current Gen consoles. But that being said, there are aspects of ESO that could improve upon Elder Scrolls 6.
There are certainly a number of devoted Bethesda fans that feel Elder Scrolls Online should be completely ignored for the future of the franchise. In fact, on a poll that asked what people want from Elder Scrolls 6 the most, ignoring ESO had the highest percentage. The second highest, with half of the amount of clicks, said that Elder Scrolls 6 should encompass all of Tamriel.
While I think that sounds amazing, I highly doubt that Bethesda will go ahead and include all of these lands. After all, they want to ensure that they can keep making instalments after Elder Scrolls VI, and after having the whole map in the game, you can't go much bigger! Of course they expand its size over the years but that's not really going to solve the issue.
Elder Scrolls 6 Location
Therefore, maybe The Elder Scrolls VI should actually look to Elder Scrolls Online for its setting. If all of Tamriel is off the cards, then the Summerset Isle is a beautiful location to set the next instalment. People have been debating where exactly VI will be set ever since they finished with Skyrim. Perhaps Bethesda might actually move the game out of Tamriel in the future?
This would indeed allow for all of Tamriel in Elder Scrolls 6, but on the poll the option for seeing the game venture beyond these lands had a measly 5%. We'll have to wait and see what Bethesda are thinking in terms of setting for their next game. Could E3 hold any secrets? It seems unlikely.
Elder Scrolls 6 Multiplayer
While ESO certainly had its difficulties, the initial idea of being able to roam around these lands with friends and other players is a beguiling one. Personally, that's all that Skyrim is missing. If I could have had the option to roam around these areas with my friends, I'd still be playing it to this day. Perhaps we could see Elder Scrolls VI incorporate multiplayer! Would that be something that would interest you guys?
Let us know what you think of The Elder Scrolls Online and Elder Scrolls 6 in the comments and if you really feel ESO should be ignored! Could we see it at E3?
