The Judge is a very moving film following a man who comes from a family where the law is life. His father, not only being a stubborn man, but a judge none the less, adds to the movie's conflict and provides an interesting background for our characters. As the film progresses you get a sense of the life they came from and learn more about their past, and how it influences their future, getting on a personal level with each person. Robert Downey Jr. gives one of the best performances of his acting career as the film's main character (Hank Palmer) when he attempts to defend his father in an ongoing murder trial, and revisits his estranged family and childhood friends. I would highly recommend this movie to any Robert Downey Jr. or dramatic film fan.
