The fourth iteration of the 'Mad Max' film series, 'Mad Max: Fury Road', will premiere on the sixty-eighth international film festival in Cannes, which will be held from March 13 to 24, as reported by the festival organization.
The film will premiere on May 14 in the official program, but out of the 'Golden Palm' (Palme d'Or) competition. Day later, it should officially begin showing in the theaters as well.
This is the fourth film in the 'Mad Max' film series from the director George Miller, who, after 30 years, returns to his own saga.
The main character is, this time, played by Tom Hardy, earlier portrayed by an Australian actor Mel Gibson. The lead female role is played by Charlize Theron.
The first movie of the Australian action film series was released in 1979. Two sequels followed, 'Mad Max: The Road Warrior' (1981) and 'Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome' (1985).
This year's jury chairmen will be the American directors, Joel and Ethan Coen, winners of the 'Golden Palm' award for the 1991 film 'Barton Fink'.
