I live in the UK so I cannot win this competition but it inspired me to write this article and express myself to the wonderful comic book lovers!

5) Wolverine/James "Logan" Howlett

Wolverine Causing Havoc... As Per Usual
Wolverine Causing Havoc... As Per Usual

Wolverine is by far the coolest member of the X-Men and probably the coolest hero overall. He has Adamantium claws... nuff said. He is very violent but can be very clever in situations where he needs to be. No one even knows what that haircut is but it is badass! James didn't have a great upbringing, with a violent father and a misleading brother. Wolverine is almost invincible and he isn't afraid to test that. James' love for Jean Grey makes him all the more interesting as he fits into a love triangle along with Cyclops.

4) Iron Man/Tony Stark

Iron Man Looking Badass!
Iron Man Looking Badass!

Iron man is a fantastic, undefeatable, badass but what is more interesting is the man under the mask... Tony Stark is a "Genius Billionaire Playboy Philanthropist." Stark has a solid exterior (pun intended) but underneath he is more damaged than at first glance. Tony didn't see much of his father as he was always working and didn't spend much time on him. This caused Tony to be looked after by his carer, Jarvis, causing him to name his AI J.A.R.V.I.S. This made Tony who he is so without his background he would not be as hard-working and tenacious as we all know him. This makes the character of Tony Stark very interesting to me as he used the darkness to bring himself to light.

3) Kick Ass/Dave Lizewski

Kick Ass Rocking Some Kick-Ass Batons!
Kick Ass Rocking Some Kick-Ass Batons!

Kick Ass will always be one of my favourite comic book characters because he represents what anyone could be if they decided to be a superhero. He has no cool origin, training or even costume! But what he did have was "Just the perfect combination of optimism and naivety".We all love Dave as he is just a nobody who becomes a somebody, and everyone loves an underdog. In the movie adaptation, Aaron Taylor-Johnson pulls off the lovable green-suited, glove-wearing ass-kicker perfectly! Kick-Ass is not meant to be taken seriously and it mocks itself well, making it not too droll. Overall, Kick-Ass is one of my favourite comic book characters because he proves that being a superhero is possible and you can be one if you aspire to it!

2) Spider-Man and Peter Parker

Spider-Man Swinging Through New York
Spider-Man Swinging Through New York

The reason that I have put Spider-Man and Peter Parker as different people is because they are actually very different; Peter Parker is a very shy, introverted genius and Spider-Man is a famous, slightly cocky hero. I find Peter Parker the most interesting as he has such a painful backstory. He lost his parents at a very young age and can never be 100% sure what really happened and why. He started to live a normal life (as much as you can whilst being a genius) and just went with the flow of life. His Uncle was killed suddenly and he told him the most important thing he could ever hear "with great power, comes great responsibility". Those words changed Peter's life forever and that was the birth of the Spider-Man everyone knows and loves. Spider-Man is a way for Peter to get away from the struggles of life and go up against new ones. The mask allows him to take on a new persona and be more free than he ever could be whilst being just Peter.

Honorable Mention

While this team of people would not be in my top 5 list of comic book characters, they deserve a mention. The Fantastic Four. The almighty Stan Lee wrote The Fantastic Four just before he was about to stop making comic books but due to the success of this team, he continued to make other stories and created Marvel as we know it. It would be wrong not to mention this as it is one of the most important events in Marvel history.

1) Harry Osborn

Harry Osborn
Harry Osborn

Harry Osborn is my favourite comic book character because his story is so intricate. Harry does not feel any love from his father and he believes that his father loves Peter, his best friend, more than him. This is enough to tear someone apart but then Peter dates the woman of his dreams and kills his father... great friend right? Harry has so many emotions built up inside that he has to explode and fight against Peter in the Hobgoblin suit. Harry is my favourite comic book character because he is so damaged and torn up on the inside.

Thank you for reading my favourite comic book characters and keep an eye out for more of my articles coming out! Thank you.
