To Celebrate the Release of the Hobbit on DVD here are YET another Five Armies that could go head to head. SPACE EDITION!

Earlier this week I published an article showing the Five Armies that I think would make a great battle if they went head to head. Because I didn't think it would be fair to include them on that list i decided to make a separate one for space armies that could battle because who doesn't love a good space fight scene.

1. The International Space Fleet (Mankind) - Ender's Game

The Space Fleet is mankind's military force to fight against the Formics, an alien insect race that nearly conquered Earth. With continuous advances in technology and guided by veterans of earlier wars, the Fleet has been strengthening its defense of Earth and preparing for an invasion of the Formic Homeworlds, there is just one thing its missing ... a leader. Desperate for victory and exhausting all other options, humanity turns to it's last hope; child soldiers. Led by the titular character, Ender, whose youth and intelligence allow him to think in ways the adult generals can't, the Fleet begins to push back against the Formics ultimately achieving victory.

The Fleet's real strength lies on Ender's ingenuity and strategy. His overall command allows him to lead unchallenged and he is able to delegate every order. He is thus able to move and control every part of the fleet as his own personal army almost as if he was playing chess. This is an especially dangerous feature as his command position affords him a complete view of the battlefield enabling him to react and counteract at a moment's notice. While in the movie he is shown to be compassionate towards his enemies as he views them as his victims, nevertheless Ender can be just as ruthless in victory making him a force to be reckoned with whether as an ally or a foe.

2. Nova Corps/Ravagers Alliance - Guardians of the Galaxy

Police and Criminals Unite
Police and Criminals Unite

You could argue that these are two different armies BUT some could also argue that neither is an army on their own since the Nova Corps form more of a police force while the Ravagers are more of a space mob. When they joined together, however, to fight against Ronan the Accuser in his quest to destroy Xander they showed that together they pack a much stronger punch. Of course the highlight of this alliance was its architects, the Guardians of the Galaxy.

"What a bunch of A---holes!!"
"What a bunch of A---holes!!"

While they would normally fight against each other, the Nova Corps/ Ravagers Alliance showcased two groups at odds coming together for what is right. The Ravagers, due to their nature as Thieves, would likely have an inventory of various weapons ready for any situation while the Nova Corps unique access to the Nova Force allows them to unite as one, such as linking their smaller ships to form an energy wall to hold back large enemy ships.

The leadership of the Guardians and their nature as criminals likely give them an edge as they are capable of doing whatever it takes to win. Also because, as Star Lord notes, they are stupid enough to live there, they'll stop anyone who decides to threaten their galaxy. Determination; teamwork; creativity; all these traits make this alliance, and the Guardians a valuable asset or a clever enemy.

3. Nazis ... From the Moon - Iron Sky

They've Waited 70 Years ... For Revenge
They've Waited 70 Years ... For Revenge

Compared to the rest of this list, this is probably the least known property, but I couldn't get enough of this movie and am anxiously awaiting the sequel in 2016. The premise of Iron Sky being that in WW2, some of the Nazis escaped to the moon where they hid and rebuilt their forces until they were discovered by an American team in 2018. Deciding to reveal their existence they quickly begin their invasion of Earth launching their Meteorblitzkreig (as opposed to just a simple Blitzkrieg) bombarding the East Coast with, you guessed it meteors, and attacking with their spaceships.

The Invasion From the Moon Begins

The Space Nazis of Iron Sky have quite the challenging space army for the countries of Earth as each country only has one spaceship each to fight back with. As if the space fleet wasn't enough, the Nazis also have another weapon up their sleeve that, once powered by the 21st century technology of Earth, is almost unstoppable ... the Götterdämmerung. This spaceship is larger then the moon base of the Nazis, taking up an entire crater, and it's guns are powerful enough to take out a portion of the moon.

With the Götterdämmerung, the Nazis from the moon would pose a threat to any of the other armies on this list. Along with their fleet of Seigfreid Zeppelins armed with meteors and countless space fighters, all formed amazingly constructed while on the moon no less, these guys aren't going down without a fight.

4. Starfleet of the United Federation of Planets - Star Trek

Don't think I was gonna leave out Star Fleet; this organization fields numerous ships crewed with members from across the Federation of Planets including Earth and Vulcan. While primarily supposed to be a peacekeeping and exploratory force out in space, Starfleet has become a military force as well responsible for defending the Federation against numerous enemies, including among others: the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Empire, and the Borg. The Fleet's de facto flagship has often been the USS Enterprise, whose adventures are chronicled throughout the Star Trek franchise.

Collectively, Starfleet is a strong force supported by numerous star systems and planets. It's exploratory requirements have made each individual ship powerful on their own. They also benefit from being led and crewed by such strategic and capable commanders and officers as James T. Kirk and Spock. Their sense of duty and collective teamwork make them excellent allies for any who need their assistance and dangerous foes for those looking to bring destruction to the Federation.

5. The Clone Armies of the Galactic Republic - Star Wars

"Begun, the Clone War Has."
"Begun, the Clone War Has."

Last but not least we have the Clone armies from Star Wars. I picked them over the Empire and the Rebels because the clone armies bring the best of both. They are led by the Jedi like the rebels, but they are as powerful as the Empire. Revealed in Episode II: Attack of the Clones the clone armies became the Republic's main military force (it didn't have one before) against the Separatists, or Confederacy of Independent Systems. With the leadership of the Jedi, the Clone armies helped the Republic to compete and have a fighting chance in the Clone Wars which eventually led to the events of Episode IV: A New Hope.

Battle of Coruscant

Numbering in the millions and, since they are clones, capable of creating numerous more reinforcements, the Clone Armies are perhaps one of the if not the largest army on this list. Their well-structured organization and unwavering obedience make them the ideal, perhaps perfect army, achieving victory in such conflicts as the Battle of Geonosis and the Battle of Coruscant in the movies as well as numerous more in the TV show The Clone Wars and other novels.

Ultimately the clone armies fall under the control of the Sith becoming the Stormtrooper Corps of the new Galactic Empire, however, during their time on the good side under the leadership of the Jedi, they help restore peace to a galaxy in civil war. A powerful military on the ground or in space, with a large industrial support capable of adapting them for conflicts across the galaxy from worlds like Kashyyyk to Utupau.

So What do you think? A good list or is it ridiculous? Also, if you haven't already go check out my previously list detailing Five Armies that would battle on the ground since it wouldn't have been fair to put them on this list?

Which army do you think would achieve victory in a space version of the Battle of the Five Armies?
