Anyone who knows me knows that I love comics. I live and breathe comics. Being forced to choose five characters I like was painful. Thankfully, I managed to narrow it down. The following characters are not in any particular order.
5. Jason Todd
Jason Todd was the second of Batman's illustrious Robins. He first gets noticed by Batman when he attempts to steal the wheels of the Batmobile. Already this just shoots him up to the top of the list for badass characters. Not many people would have the balls to attempt to steal the Batmobile's wheels.
He's intense, aggressive, and he gets things done. He almost gets benched by Batman for possibly shoving a rapist off the top of the building, and when he becomes Red Hood he decides to be what Batman cannot be. He kills the bad guys so that other people can no longer be victimized the way he had been.
How was he victimized? He got viciously beat with a crowbar, by the Joker, and then blown up. His death then plagued Batman for the longest time, the guilt messing Batman up and pushing him away from Alfred and Dick. Jason had impact, even though he had a hard time seeing that for himself.
Last of all, look at that leather jacket. You cannot tell me that costume isn't super awesome.
4. Cassandra Cain
Cassandra Cain is the daughter of the assassins David Cain and Lady Shiva. Instead of being taught to read and write, she was taught to read body language and be the most effective assassin possible. After she finally killed a man at 8 years old, she realized what she was being taught was wrong, ran away from her dad, and was eventually found by Oracle. She adopted the mantle of Batgirl in attempt to make up for the murder she committed. After dropping the title Batgirl, she became Black Bat.
She's basically Hit Girl from Kickass, except she came first.
She's especially close to my heart because she's mixed race like I am.
3. Hawkeye (Clint Barton)
He's a deaf character but still amazing and competent.
He has no problems with a girl taking on the title of Hawkeye.
He loves his neighbors and his dog.
He gets called "Hawkguy".
Purple's pretty cool.
2. Hawkeye (Kate Bishop)
She's not just some rich girl.
She got raped, and used that experience to make herself stronger.
She pulled together the Young Avengers who were messy and not cooperating before she joined.
She can keep up with the big leagues, fighting villains like Madame Masque, and Kang the Conqueror.
Captain America respected her enough to personally acknowledge her and offer her the mantle of Hawkeye.
Clint Barton adores her. She also saves his butt all the time.
The son of Wolverine, he's got major daddy issues. He's also a full on psychopath. He's kinda evil, but more pragmatic and self-serving than truly evil.
He's got that weird but cool third claw coming from his wrist.
He's canonically bisexual! (Diversity, yay!)
He loves blood and death and violence. Again, kinda evil.
Most importantly, he is also mixed race, like me. (Diversity, yay!)
