Many of us are convinced that 2015 is the year that will finally unveil the presence of Fallout 4. E3 will be an exciting place to be in 2015, and we can see a record number of tickets being purchased with Bethesda hosting their first ever conference. Could we also see another Elder Scrolls game get a release date too?
It's been 7 years since Bethesda let Fallout 3 have its release date. Therefore, we can assume that a great deal of alterations have been made to the formula we all enjoyed in 2008. But could we really see such radical changes to the character structure of the Fallout universe? Could Bethesda include a character race selection option on Fallout 4's release date for the XBOX One, PS4 & PC?
Fallout 4 - Race Selection
If Fallout 4 was to introduce a race selection into its midst, it wouldn't be the first Fallout game to do so. Back in 2001, Fallout: Tactics gave players the option to play one of 6 different races, each one with their own abilities and backstories. The options were Humans, Super Mutants, Ghouls, Deathclaws, Dogs and Humanoid Robots.
All of these creatures we've seen in Fallout 3, though the option of playing them never really seemed to cross the developers minds. If Bethesda were indeed to make this option available, they would have to create several starting options for all of the different races. Or they could simply throw us all into a situation like the outset of Skyrim. The question is though, would you want race selection to be an option in Fallout 4, and if so, who would you play as?
Humans in Fallout 4
Naturally, this is one is a given. The option to play as a human may once more allow us to start off deep underground in the protection of a vault. Bethesda have almost always had us starting off in prison or under arrest in The Elder Scrolls series, so perhaps they intend to keep Fallout's openings similar too.
Super Mutants in Fallout 4
The big, brutal, badasses of the wastelands. These guys can be quite the challenge out in the wilds, though there were actually some friendly ones too. These guys are powerful and would be able to wield impressively heavy weapons for Fallout 4. But would you really pick being one of them over a human?
Ghouls & Humanoid Robots in Fallout 4
In terms of intelligence, when it comes to looking at the character roster in Fallout: Tactics, these are the only two remaining options for playable races in Fallout 4. Unless of course, you really want to play as a dog for 40 hours. It could be like a grittier version of Tokyo Jungle!
Both of these races have their own unique attributes. If Bethesda allowed us to customise the Humanoid Robots into a form that was actually a little bit more traversable for the wastelands, that'd be epic! However, the levelling up system that Bethesda usually employs might not really work when it comes to a robot. A Ghoul on the other hand might just work!
So what do you think fallout fans? Would you be interested in picking a race to play as in Fallout 4? What about the Pip-Boy? If we were to continue to have this option in the next instalment then realistically the Ghouls, Super-Mutants and Humans are the only logical choices. Will we see Fallout 4 at E3? Let us know what you think in the comments!
