Mass Effect 4 is one of the most anticipated titles of our generation. Bioware's trilogy was without a doubt one of the greatest RPG experiences I've had with the medium. From its dynamic world and missions, to its glorious characters and engaging combat. [Mass Effect](movie:589200) really has it all. Naturally, we want this greatness to be extended onto Mass Effect 4.
Shepard's adventure and his combatting of the Reapers was intense up until the bizarre closing moments. It's hard to imagine how Bioware can replicate the awesome nature of the Mass Effect trilogy's narrative. However, fans have taken great stabs at the potential plot for ME4 on the XBOX One and PS4. We're without news, so we make news of our own. This particular plot by TBroadhurst on Reddit would have me sold just by the setting and context on ME4's release date.
Mass Effect 4 - An Awesome Plot For Release Date
In TBroadhurst's hypothetical situation, the conclusion of Mass Effect 2 is followed closely by the invasion of the Reaper forces. The galaxy at large is faced with the gravest decision they've ever had to make: stay and fight, or go. Under the guidance of Commander Shepard, the former option was elected as we took on the Reapers in glorious fashion.
However, the threat of imminent annihilation and potential failure would have caused the Council to take aggressive action. In order to ensure the survival of the council species as well as others, they would have to have taken action in case Shepard failed. Thus, a series of ships were sent out into the universe in search of new planets. New homes.
Let's say the council send out 5 ships, all in different directions, lightyears apart from one another. 4 of these ships contain the means for the preservation of life. They hold the embryos, sperm and eggs of the council races, and those of the Krogans and Quarians among others. Once a suitable location is uncovered, those aboard the ships would awaken upon the arrival on a new planet and begin the process of insemination.
The purpose of the fifth ship however, is to start the creation of a Homeworld infrastructure and the establishment of a new council. Each of these ships would be equipped with an Edi and Geth member, those who could monitor the progress of the ship without the need for hyper-sleep. Thus, a process of hundreds of years begins.
The destruction of the Mass Relays will have isolated these ships from the rest of the universe. They will be entirely interdependent, though in communication with the Homeworld. It would result in the growth of various species in one large ecosystem on four different planets. They would all grow up with one another and share their worlds with one another.
This is how race selection would fit rather well into Mass Effect 4. We would all start out in the same position, on a planet filled with the alien life forms we've come to know. This would set the plot of Mass Effect 4 over hundreds of years into the future after the events of ME3. Bioware have already spoken about how our save files won't really have an effect in ME4. Therefore, new players will be able to hop into it easily.
Then, once we're old enough in an age were travel has become easier, we fly to the newly created Citadel and out journey begins. Perhaps we can elect which planet we're born on and this determines our past and background. Perhaps some planets have worse reputations than others, there's endless room for growth and some of the surrounding worlds could have plenty of new species of their own!
