I am sure the majority of us know who Bambi is, and have watched it countless times, but for those of you who don't know: Bambi is a classic Disney animation about a fawn named Bambi and his new friends, a rabbit named Thumper and a skunk kit named Flower, who join Bambi in exploring the woods. Bambi is also in love with a young doe named Faline. He learns from his mother and his father (Prince of the Forest) that besides the delights of the forest there are plenty of dangerous things surrounding him, such as hunters -- especially in open meadows where they can be seen!
BUT the live-action version is different. We have Bambi breaking boundaries and trying to fire back at the hunters for revenge.
Saturday Night Live has boosted their title and gotten a little more badass after airing the live-action twist on the Disney classic Bambi. With our hosts' imagination, they took it too the next level and saw it through the eyes of the director of Furious 7.
This new Bambi includes a theme song, in the form of "Wham Bam Bambi" by Ludacris (Jay Pharoah) and it is pretty damn catchy!
Of course this version is not a cartoon filled with butterflies, flowers, bright colors and this adorable scene from the original ...
... But don't worry, they still included some of the most memorable scenes from the classic - like the butterfly on the nose.
Here's what we gathered as the basic story line of the film:
-- a cigar-smoking, gun-toting deer named Bambi seeks out with blood in his eyes with revenge for the hunter who killed his mother accompanied by a familiar set of friends!
Well, that doesn't sound too bad at all!
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson plays the cute and innocent Bambi, as he sets out with his friends, played by Taran Killam, impersonating Vin Diesel as Thumper, Cecily Strong (Michelle Rodriquez) as Faline and Jay Pharoah, taking the role of Flower (Tyrese Gibson) to catch the hunter.
Overall the film was actually awesome! I wanted to see more! I know I would watch a 2 hour movie like this over any Disney princess looking for love in the forest! It's intense and full of action!
Anyway -- Check it out!
