The Fast & Furious franchise has already completed seven films and shows no sign of letting up on the gas pedal with a confirmed eighth installment set to be released in Summer of 2017.

Fans might be wondering where the film series will take them next, and what kind of actors we can expect to join the F&F family. Well, this critically acclaimed Oscar, Emmy, BAFTA, and Golden Globe winning actress wants to be first in line for the next round of casting.

Helen Mirren is, without a doubt, one of the most highly respected actresses in the film industry. At 69-years-old, Dame Mirren has been an esteemed veteran of both stage and screen for nearly 50 years.

Mirren was interviewed by Yahoo! Movies where she admitted that she would love to have a role in the next Fast & Furious movie. She goes straight to the patriarch of the Fast & Furious family, Vin Diesel himself, to discuss casting:

My great ambition is to be in a Fast and Furious movie. I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast & Furious movie. My claim to fame is I always do my own driving — I was in Top Gear, and I did [my lap] in a very good time. I keep putting it out there, and they never ask me. I’ll be in Fast & Furious 8. I have to say, Vin Diesel is brilliant. I love Vin Diesel. He’s a great guy, smart — I love him. It’s partly because of him I’d like to be in one, but also the driving. I’d also love to do another Red-type movie, because those are such fun to do.

While this came as a bit of a shock to me at first, the more I thought about it, the more I loved the idea. Why wouldn't she want to be in a Fast & Furious movie? She has an incredible acting range and I'm positive a bit of illegal street racing is well within her capability.

If we needed any further proof that she would be totally fit to play a "mad driver," we already have plenty action footage from her work in the movies Red and Red 2. And we know she has the driving skills from her aforementioned appearance on Top Gear. Her "fabulous" lap starts around the 5:30 mark:

I don't know about you, but I could easily watch an entire franchise centered around Helen Mirren driving cars and talking to herself.

So let's just speculate a bit on what kind of role Helen Mirren could play in the Fast & Furious franchise. I mean, she could probably play anyone, but let's have some fun!

While my initial gut reaction would be for Helen Mirren to reprise her role as Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, I feel like it might be a little out of character - albeit awesome and cool - for the Queen to take up drag racing.

Instead, I envision Helen Mirren playing the role of Mama Shaw. As we know, Owen Shaw (Luke Evans) was the villain in Fast & Furious 6 and Jason Statham is playing his brother, Deckard Shaw, hellbent on avenging his brother in [Furious 7](movie:264263). It only makes sense that Mirren would play the matriarch and master villainess of the Shaw family in Fast & Furious 8!

Sadly, I'm not involved with writing the next installment of Fast & Furious (yet), but I think that any role is the right role for Helen Mirren. That woman is an absolute gem and a total badass.

C'mon Vin, have your people call her people and let's make this thing happen! What would you guys think about seeing Helen Mirren in [Fast & Furious 8](movie:1117455)? What kind of role would you like to see her play? Let me know in the comments section.

Furious 7[Furious 7](movie:264263)will hit theaters this Friday, April 3.
