As of January this year, Alien: Isolation has gone on to sell over one million copies, and has won various Game of the Year awards from gaming publications like PC Gamer and The Official Xbox Magazine. But 5.9 from IGN?! Are you guys serious?! Any way, with that aside, it's clear that Alien: Isolation was a success for The Creative Assembly and for Sega.
Therefore, with Sega generally not doing very well in the gaming industry anymore, I think it's fair to say that this won't be the last we hear of Ridley Scott's Alien on XBOX One, PC and PS4. The question is whether it will follow the tale of Amanda Ripley, and be a direct sequel to Alien: Isolation.
Alien Isolation 2 & Amanda Ripley
As many games that are dying to suck more money out of gamers are inclined to do, Alien: Isolation ends on a cliffhanger. And to be honest, it isn't a great ending. They could certainly have come up with a better way to conclude this tale. Personally, I was really hoping for an Alien-style ending with that beautiful music and Amanda signing off just like her mother.
However, The Creative Assembly and Sega wanted to ensure that there was enough intrigue to warrant the return of players to this glorious world. Alien: Isolation is just about as close as you can get to the perfect Alien game. The sound and visual design is impeccable, and for the first time in years, an Alien game was tough and enjoyable to play.
The developers now have a winning formula, and personally, I'd love to see Alien: Isolation 2, as a major fan of these films. There is certainly room for improvement in The Creative Assembly's creation. The game is a little bit stretched out in terms of its narrative, and I felt like the AI, apart from the Alien of course, was lacking at times.
Also I think they handed us the flamethrower far too early as the Alien could be chased off with just a few short blasts. Alien: Isolation 2 would have a lot to live up to, especially seeing as it would have to improve upon a Game of the Year formula. But I have faith in The Creative Assembly, if Sega do indeed decide to keep them on for the sequel.
So what do you think Alien fans? Did you enjoy Alien: Isolation? Do you think we could see a sequel to this great game, or perhaps something that ties in with the upcoming [Alien 5](movie:1468950)? Be sure to let us know in the comments what you'd want from Alien: Isolation 2!
