Batman vs Superman plotlines

Roughly a week ago I read an article written my another creator here on Moviepilot. Mr Kit Simpson Brown had uncovered some interesting news about the proposed plotlines for the Batman vs Superman movie. The plotlines suggested that Supes would somehow get duped by Lex Luthor into attacking Batman. What I couldn't understand was the overwhelmingly negative response to this news.

“Superman would never get duped by Lex Luthor one geek declared!”

What Superman books have you been reading? Superman is forever getting duped, played and basically made a patsy of, why? Not because he stupid but because of his belief in the human race. That's the real tragedy he wholeheartedly believes in the inherent goodness of the human race.

One of my favourite Bruce Wayne quotes is “Clark is essentially a good person, I'm not.”

Clark with his corn bread up bringing is trying to see the best in all people. Lex Luthor is a genius level criminal mastermind. It would not be difficult for him to manipulate someone like Superman. Why would Superman at this early stage of their relationship have cause to doubt him. To all intents and purposes Lex Luthor is a successful businessman and upstanding member of the community, while Batman is a psychopathic costumed vigilante who beats his prey to a bloody pulp with his fists. So in actual fact the plot-line makes perfect sense.

Zack Snyder got this gig based on his work on Watchmen and whatever the credits may say about it they can't accuse him of not being faithful to the source material. The same can be said for [Man of Steel](movie:15593). Which is to my mind an outstanding retelling of the Superman mythology while always remaining faithful to the source material.

So what I would like to say to the individuals out there who seem to be determined to rip into [Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice](movie:711870) before we have even seen a teaser. Be a little more like Superman and have a little faith.
