Furious 7 earned multiple box office records across the board this weekend by becoming the biggest Universal opening ever, the ninth biggest opening weekend of all time, and raking in a staggering $384 million. But box office records weren't the only thing Furious 7 left devastated in its wake, it also broke a lot of hearts.
I was one of the millions of people this weekend who had a movie night dedicated to the latest installment of the Fast and Furious franchise. While I knew going into the theater that watching Paul Walker's final performance would be an emotional thrill ride, I wasn't expecting the onslaught of tears I had to face at the end.
After about two hours of adrenaline-pumping action, timely one-liners, and The Rock basically being the most unreal human I've ever seen, things turned from badass to absolutely devastating.
Initially, I felt pretty insecure about the tears pooling around me over an action blockbuster, but that's when I heard the sniffles and sighs of my fellow audience members around me. I have since come to the conclusion that you would have to have a heart of stone to watch that final scene and leave totally intact. This is pretty much how it goes down:
Here are a few other audience reactions from people left equally devastated by Furious 7's heartbreakingly touching ending, in case you still haven't been convinced or need further proof that it's totally acceptable to weep over this ending:
It wasn't just fans who were feeling sentimental while remembering Paul Walker. Many of Walker's costars also took to social media to commemorate working on the Fast & Furious series with the late actor:
Vin Diesel posted the lovely Furious 7 tribute music video, "See You Again," by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth, and thanked Walker for making fans everywhere a part of La Familia.
If you still haven't made your way to the theater to see [Furious 7](movie:264263), I highly suggest you do, but be sure to bring a box of tissues!
