There are many ways that Sony and Microsoft face off against one another to win the approval and purchases of fans. But the exclusive sale of DLC, especially when it comes to pre-orders, has really got to stop. Batman: Arkham Knight is the latest title to have unveiled its exclusive package for those that happen to have chosen a PS4 over an XBOX One.

The DLC pack will feature some pretty cool skins, costumes and actually additional missions, which seems entirely unfair to those that own Microsoft's current gen console. This pack means that those who want to engage with additional Batman: Arkham Knight content will not be able to do so without the purchase of a second console.

The pack features a Justice League 3000 Batman costume, as well as the classic Adam West TV series look. This will also be available as a skin for the Batmobile, though personally I wish I could actually drive the old Batmobile in Arkham Knight. Now that, would be epic!

However, the pack also comes with exclusive Scarecrow Nightmare missions. It's still unclear how these levels will tie in with the overall plot, or indeed how long they'll be, but the fact that they're not available on the Xbox One is a bit of a disgrace. They'll probably just be little side missions that you can dabble with for a few minutes, but it's indicative of everything that's wrong with the console race.

Could the Arkham Knight DLC Come to Xbox One?

The consoles can have their exclusive titles, that's fine. That's a genuine way that Sony and Microsoft can generate profits and fuel the creation of games that shine on their own machines. Personally, I think that Bloodborne is the greatest exclusive on any system at the moment. But when it comes to titles that will release on both consoles, exclusivity has got to go.

If this Arkham Knight DLC pack does actually arrive on the Xbox One, it will undoubtedly be in the form of an expensive once-off payment, which really seems ridiculous. Sony have great ways of selling their consoles, particularly when it comes to the sensationally cool PS4 consoles with unique skins they make to advertise games. But am I the only one that feels this all-platform exclusive content needs to go?

I'm a PS4 player through and through, and I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with the console. But seeing fans of the [Batman: Arkham Series](tag:2586475) shut out from experiencing more content purely because they own an Xbox One is a trend in gaming that's gotta die. Let us know what you think of this [Batman: Arkham Knight](tag:2683936) DLC in the comments!
