Even as a Marvel movie's credits roll, most know that it's far from over. If you're anything like me, you'll be damn sure to stick around to the bitter end, well after the lights have gone up and the theater cleaners have begun fumbling around your feet, looking for stray puffs of popcorn.

However, a word of advice before you go see Age of Ultron: don't bother sticking around till the end (unless you wish to honor the small army of people who worked on it, of course), because director Joss Whedon has just confirmed that there will be no after-credits scene included this time around.

So, Why Not?

Whedon told EW that they couldn't hope to replicate the magic of The Avengers' shawarma scene, in which the super-powered task force silently munch on their post-battle snack:

"We don’t want to chase that. That was a jewel and a weird little quirk.
The first rule of making a sequel is take the best moments and do something else. Don’t do the Indiana Jones gun trick again differently. Just go somewhere else. Don’t try to hit the same highs, because people will sense it."

But fear not - though we may not be treated to some more scrumptious Turkish cuisine, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that, "There will be a tag," meaning an mini-epilogue that will show up mid-way through the credits.

And just in case you think Whedon's bluffing, and there really is a super-secret 'real' ending hiding in the dregs of the film reel, the director assures you he's not kidding around:

"There is nothing at the very end. And that’s not a fake-out. We want people to know so they don’t sit there for 10 minutes and then go: ‘Son of a bitch! I’ll kill them!’"

So that's that, I guess. However, considering that Age of Ultron won't satisfy our hunger for post-credit sequences, I've decided to take a look back at some of the best we've already been treated to!

My 4 Favorite Marvel Post-Credit Scenes

Incessantly feeding us a tantalizingly more-ish taste of what's to come, those devious filmmakers always know how to keep us loyal by leaving us craving just a little bit more. Forget that this is also how sex traffickers control their labor force by hooking them on heroin, and remember that Marvel only want what's best for you... as well as your money.

Here are my 4 favorite after credits Marvel scenes!

1. The Avengers (2012) - Shawarma Scene

Why it's awesome: After the exhaustingly epic final battle in Marvel's superhero-studded blockbuster, this hilariously anti-climactic shawarma feast was the perfect gastronomic full-stop to an action-brimmed roller-coaster ride. I love that no matter how apocalyptically grave the situation becomes, Marvel always retains their good sense of humor.

2. Iron Man 2 (2010) - Thor's Hammer

Why it's awesome: The first appearance of Thor's hammer was a landmark moment for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and convinced me that the scope of the world they were building was well and truly huge!

3. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) - Gym Recruitment

Why it's awesome: As Marvel continued to build hype for their Avengers phenomenon, it was this scene that first got me pumped for the all-star assemblage of superheroes. S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury approaches Rogers during his workout. "Trying to get me back in the world?” the Captain asks. “Trying to save it,” replies Fury. Add in a kick ass teaser trailer for the upcoming movie and I was straight-up sold!

4. Iron Man (2008) - The Avengers Initiative

Why it's awesome: This is a classic, and perhaps the best of the bunch. “Mr. Stark, you’ve become part of a bigger universe. You just don’t know it yet,” Fury teases, talking to both Tony and the audience. Then he drops the bombshell: “I’m here to talk to you about The Avengers Initiative.” Little did we know what kind of awesome insanity would follow this fateful conversation.
