We've spent 14 adrenaline-soaked years riding shotgun with The Fast and Furious franchise, the ludicrous-yet-irresistible series having taken some rather radical twists and turns along the way.
Narratively speaking, the series has gotten even more complicated than my confusing feelings toward Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. I just want to be held in his giant tree trunk arms, okay?
Though #TheFastAndFurious series appears to be fairly straight-forward on its surface, it's actually full of non-linear, out of sequence storytelling, jumping back and forth through flashbacks and flipping between time periods constantly. To get things straightened out, I've arranged the Fast and Furious movies in their true chronological sequence, so you can trace the beginning of this epic story, right to the very end (if they ever finish making them).
1. 'The Fast And The Furious' - (2001)
Undercover cop Brian investigates Dominic Toretto and his motley crew of street racers, suspected of robbing electronics. Long story short, Brian falls for Mia, Dom’s sister, and he and Dom become bros4life.
2. '2 Fast 2 Furious' - (2003)
Brian and Roman Pearce are recruited by the FBI to track down a Miami drug ring to win back their freedom. They partake in drag races, cause massive high speed collisions and, finally, drive their car directly into a boat.
3. 'Los Bandoleros' - (2009)
This little-known short film was produced and directed by Vin Diesel. Serving as a primer to Fast & Furious, covering backstory for the events leading up to the fourth film's oil truck heist.
4. 'Fast & Furious' - (2009)
Brian reunites with former partner Dom to hunt down - yep, you guessed it - yet another drug lord. Arturo Braga murders Dom’s girlfriend, Letty. In his quest for revenge, Dom brings Braga down, but in the process gets himself sent to prison.
5. 'Fast 5' - (2011)
Dom is broken out of prison. The walking tank that is agent Hobbs gets sent to take the street racing gang down, but they prove to quick for his hulking body and (surprise!) escape with a drug baron's cash. Also, Letty is still alive! Dun-dun-duuuunnnn.

7. 'The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift' - (2006)
Han has now moved to Tokyo, where he teaches Sean Boswell how to drive sideways. Boswell and Han get in too deep with the Yakuza and Han is murdered by...Shaw's brother, Jason Statham!
8. 'Furious 7' - (2015)
After the Fast family put Owen Shaw in hospital, his brother Deckard seeks revenge on the crew. In order to get Shaw off their back, the group must help the FBI recover the God's Eye computer program and its creator, Ramsey.
9. 'The Fate Of The Furious' - (2017)
The first film since Tokyo Drift not to feature Paul Walker, The Fate of the Furious changes gears following the retirement of Brian and Mia. Dom and Letty are not five minutes into their honeymoon when criminal mastermind Cipher, payed by Charlize Theron, seduces Dom into turning against his former allies.
The Fate of the Furious is in cinemas now.
