If you were as delightfully surprised by how brilliant the 21 Jump Street reboots are, as I was, you'll be delighted with this news right here. Because 22 Jump Street's brilliant end credit fake sequels scene has actually been revealed as canon!
If you're not sure about what I'm banging on about, at the end of 22, Ice Cube's Captain Dickson barks at Channing Tatum & Jonah HIll's Jenko and Schmidt (respectively) that "you two sons of bitches are going to medical school", which leads off into:
During their The Last Man On Earth panel at Wondercon, Jump Street directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller gave a bit of an update on the confirmed 23 Jump Street:
We've found a way that we love that makes those imagined sequels canonical and yet does something that we haven't told you about yet. The sequels are canon.
Alright, so that doesn't really give much information away, but an interview with The New York Times helps elucidate the excitement a little bit more, especially with a script being on its way:
Rodney Rothman is off writing a script. He had a really outrageous idea for what to do, and how we could take our scorched-earth sequel policy from the end of ’22 Jump Street’ and do something that hadn’t been explored in those 22 sequels and simultaneously tell the next chapter in the story
Some of the fake sequels could turn out to be utterly brilliant, I have no doubts in Lord and Millers comedic prowess. But what of the rumored Men In Black/Jump Street crossover?
I think it's safe to say that anything could happen!
