The premier of Hannibal Season 3 is only two months away now. The scariest show on television returns to haunt your television screen on June 4th and there are plenty of reasons to get yourself excited now about the return of Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and his best frenemy Hannibal Lecter, deliciously played by Mads Mikkelsen.

The show left on one of the biggest cliffhangers to grace a show in recent memory. After Hannibal was finally discovered by the FBI to be the murderous cannibal that he is, an epic showdown ensued that left FBI director Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne), Will Graham, Dr. Alana Bloom and Abigail Hobbs all left for dead while Hannibal escaped with his psychiatrist Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) on a plane headed for Europe.

Who Will Survive Hannibal Season 3?

More and more details have emerged on how the series is going to pick up these threads when Hannibal returns for season 3. It looks like Hannibal will be teasing out the fates of most of these characters over the first couple of episodes - though we can of course rest easy that Will Graham will have survived his stabbing at the hands of Hannibal Lecter and the recent teaser trailer for the new season even shows us that Will doesn't hold any grudges about that stabby incident - that's some forgiveness!

Caroline Dhavernas, the actress who plays Dr. Alana Bloom, saw her character lying half dead on the ground after being pushed out of a window by Abigail Hobbs when season 2 ended. But she's revealed that you should expect her character to be quite alive and stronger than ever when Hannibal Season 3 starts up.

Likewise, Laurence Fishburne has also revealed in many interviews that you should expect to see Jack Crawford returning in season 3 of Hannibal as well. It wasn't looking good for Jack as he was trapped in Hannibal's house oozing blood at a fatal rate. But if the show is indeed sticking to the legacy of the Thomas Harris book Red Dragon that introduced the world to these characters, it can be expected that Jack Crawford will remain alive. Though I doubt any character should rest easy on just that thought alone.

Hannibal Season 3 Does the Time Warp Again

It would seem that Abigail Hobbs was the character that couldn't make it out of Hannibal Lecter's house alive, having had her neck slashed by Hannibal on the way out the door to the relative safety of Europe - which is where season 3 is set to pick up the storyline. In fact, from all reports it sounds like the first seven episodes will be focused on the European adventures of Hannibal Lecter, Gillian Anderson's Dr. Maurier and Will Graham before taking a big time jump to finish off the season.

The first seven episodes will continue the Hannibal tradition of being titled after famous dishes, this time Italian dishes, in honor of the setting, such as Episode 1 "Antipasto", Episode 2 "Primavera" - all the way until Season 3's episode 7, entitled "Digestivo". Episode 8, taking place some years later, will introduce Francis Dolarhyde, The Tooth Fairy, played by Richard Armitage, in an episode that switches up the Hannibal tradition of food related titles by simply calling itself "The Great Red Dragon".

A Visit From Red Dragon's Tooth Fairy

The "Red Dragon" is a reference to a character in a painting by William Blake that Dolarhyde is obsessed with and he's insane enough to think that the more people he kills, the more power he will absorb to transform himself into the Red Dragon of the painting. The Tooth Fairy handle comes from Dolarhyde's predilection to leaving bite marks on his victims. Of course, catching this guy will require Will Graham to seek assistance from killer brain of Hannibal Lecter.

This back half of the season will introduce a couple of other characters from Thomas Harris' Red Dragon book, Will Graham's wife, Molly Foster, and her 12 year old son Walter. And then there's the damsel in distress, Rebecca McClane, the blind girlfriend of Dollarhyde's, played by True Blood's Rutina Wesley. Indeed, three potential victims for the sadistic Hannibal Lecter and crazypants Tooth Fairy.

What do you think? Does all this add up for the best season of [Hannibal](series:721010) yet? Head to the comments, Fannibals!
