After finally getting myself together over Nina Dobrev's upcoming departure from Mystic Falls, I've been swiftly gut-punched with the fresh new blow that we are also losing Michael Trevino.
Trevino, who plays werewolf Tyler Lockwood, will be leaving the show after first jostling and fist-bumping his way onto our screens in the very first episode of [The Vampire Diaries](series:200853).
Executive producer Julie Plec confirmed Trevino’s departure on Monday in the following statement to People magazine:
Michael has been a beloved member of the Vampire Diaries family since day one. Even though he’s also going to be out in the world exploring new opportunities, we look forward to finding creative ways to make sure he and his character Tyler Lockwood always remain a part of the show.
Trevino fans will be able to swoon at the hunky actor in his new lead role in ABCs new revenge spinoff Kingsmaker.
Let's just hope Trevino's new character has the same potential for growth as Tyler did.
There is no denying that Tyler's character went on a huge soul searching journey throughout his time in Mystic falls and transformed from a brash jock into a sensitive and responsible individual... most of the time!
One thing's for sure, he will definitely be missed. I was worried for both Tyler and Matt's characters due to their lack of storylines in Season 6, but I was never expecting anything as drastic as this.
Good luck in your new role Michael, and know that TVD fandom have your back!
