For six seasons, Lost fans toiled over the meaning of six mysterious numbers that continue to haunt some of us half a decade later.
4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42.
The true meaning behind this numerical pattern have beguiled Losties for years. Even just seeing any combination of these in real life can send some into a rage blackout (I've seen it happen).
That feeling of confusion and anticipation was only exacerbated when co-creator Damon Lindelof proclaimed, "The purpose of the show wasn’t about the answer to what the numbers meant, it was really about, how did I feel while I was watching Lost?”
So, these numbers never had an perfectly satisfying conclusion wrapped up in a nice little bow. Or...are we finally getting the chance to experience their real truth on this sacred day?
4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 = 4/8/15 16:23:42
Today is April 8, 2015, and at exactly 4:23:42 p.m. all of us Lost fans can revel in this once-in-a-lifetime moment together. At long last, we get our own day to celebrate our enduring love and appreciation, just like Desmond and Penny.
That's right, I threw in one of the most emotional scenes ever on TV because we still know how to party through out collective tears.
