Now, you don't know me, but let me start by saying I'm not the sort of guy you'd expect to like High School Musical. The happy-go-lucky singing and dancing seems almost fundamentally opposed to my 26-year-old dry, English, cynical exterior - as does the cliché happy ending. But I'm going to let you in on a secret... I actually love High School Musical. I think it's brilliant. I love everything, from the absolutely barnstorming songs to the storyline which is clearly an allegory for socialist revolution (which it totally is).
So it's with this mind, I stumbled across news that Ashley Tisdale is eager for a High School Musical reunion - although you might be left disappointed by her time frame.
While speaking to MTV to promote her upcoming guest appearance on the ABC Family comedy, Young & Hungry, Tisdale - who famously played the narcissistic Sharpay in HSM - revealed she was still close to her all-singing-all-dancing co-stars, Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron. She explained:
We’re all trying to have our own personal reunion just to see each other. As for a reunion, I have no idea. It would be interesting to do a 25-year reunion. That would be kind of crazy and also hilarious.
Okay, so I imagine this isn't exactly what you had in mind when you thought of a High School Musical reunion, but it does kind of make sense. I mean, why else would adult Troy, Gabriella and Sharpay all be hanging around a high school together?
Although... to be honest, in 2033 the dance moves of Efron, Tisdale and Hudgens might be a bit less exuberant than in their younger days. Some of those squats and thrusts could put a hip out.
