A HEADS UP. I'M GOING TO USE CAPITALS A LOT IN THIS POST. WHY? BECAUSE I'M EXCITED. OK. CONTINUE. READ ON.
When you think about Jurassic Park, you think raptors running around, people screaming, kid-hating paleontologists , cool Jeff Goldblum-looking arrogant but future-telling mathematicians, lawyers who think everything is wonderful, an old man, with an impossible dream and a MOTHERFLIPPING AWESOME T-Rex.
When you think about Jurassic World, you'll soon be thinking Chris Pratt and other people like Bryce Dallas Howard and an insanely MOTHERFLIPPING AWESOME Indominus Rex.
However, right now, you'll probably think of a film trailer that was awesome to some, but badly CGI'd to others, a door that looks as fake as a pirates wooden leg and a repeat of THAT Inception music, again. Seriously, I know it sounds cool and makes we wanna see the film, but surely there's got to be more sounds trailer people can use. Anyway. You're probably not super excited for the film. You're excited, yes, maybe, or maybe even not, but you know the competition and you think the film has a lot to do if it's going to match, or even top the first Jurassic Park film. (We won't talk about the other two). You've got that slight worry in your stomach that the film's going to flop. Fair enough. I agree with you.
However. I've seen something, that will remove all doubts about the film, and make you focus on one thing in your life and one thing only; GETTING TO JURASSIC WORLD.
Seriously. This is no joke. We all know the risks and trust me, you'll ignore them.
Today, I went on the website for the Jurassic World and it's like nothing I have ever seen in my entire life. EVER.
The entire website, is basically one giant promotional website (yeah that sounds weird, I know, but bear with me), not for the film, but for JURASSIC WORLD ITSELF!!!
I'll show you. This, is the first page you'll see when you go onto the website (I have zoomed out on the webpage though, to get better screenshots)
As you can see, there's a nice amount of park information, on the left, and the background is an ever changing video of mostly scenes seen in the trailers, of the park (no Chris Pratt yet, on this anyway). On the right, is a little symbol for a drop down menu, or rather.....
........a drop left menu, which has stuff like the park map, dino information, a "Plan Your Visit" button which I'll show in a minute, a link to clips about the movie (ok I know I said it's entirely about the park, but c'mon, they do have to get something about the movie in there somewhere), "Raptorpass" which is cool and I'll let you guys explore it by yourselves, a link to the fictional company financing the theme park "Masrani Global" (which I didn't look at, having seen it ages ago, check it out at your leisure), "Tickets" (I'll explain more later) a beautiful little button called "Safety First" which we'll all have a chuckle at (and I'll explain more about later) and my absolute favourite; "Park Cam".
First off, this is some of the stuff you'll see (I've kept it to the first pages, so you guys can explore further).
So, that's some of the stuff you'll see.
BUT. THIS. This, next stuff, is the glorious stuff. This, is what will make you SUPER EXCITED for Jurassic World - the fictional theme park.
First off, is the Dinosaurs link. It's basically exactly what you'd expect from a dinosaur theme park, with links explaining info about your favourite dinosaurs, some of which are available to glean information about, and some of which, you aren't.
Now, if you look at it very closely, and squint, you'll see two awesome things. One, which was always going to be there, and one which is very cool and which I'll point out the image of, but not spoil the page of, because it's a beautiful little Easter Egg.
Yes. I'm talking about the T-Rex link, and more importantly.....
Yep. They've included a link to Indy-Rex!!!! (Ok that's my name for him/her/it, hopefully it'll catch on) So, you can now find out about the awesome dinosaur you'll be seeing in the film, and the page for it is EPIC, so I'm not going to spoil it.
The most insanely cool thing, though, isn't actually Indy-Rex. It's actually the lovely little park cam, here's a few of the images I took.
These show off, the Main Street, the Ferry, an attraction called "Cretaceous Cruise", and one of my two favourites.....
.....the Gyrosphere line. Now, I'm going to show one more in a bit, but first I'll explain why I love this so much. The reason why, is because, it's SO lifelike. Literally, the whole camera setup, is of a colour cctv system, which means it's not film-like, it looks realistic and it IS. They basically, built the set, plonked a load of extras on it, and I say, give them all Oscars, because they mill about as if they're really there. One girl starts drumming on the barrier, kids talk excitedly to their parents/guardians and people take photos. And this doens't just happen there.
In the Main Street cams, people mill about and take pictures. There's an attraction camera, which is very funny and shows maintenance cleaning behind the scenes *winks*. There's a maintenance camera for a maintenance tunnel, which may or may not be an easter egg, because it may or may not be shown in the film as a major location (I don't know, I'm just guessing). There's even a camera for the off-duty-staff cafeteria, amongst other really cool ones that I don't want to spoil.
However, the best one, is also the most boring, but it's the best because it's the most boring....
YES. Here we have an actual camera in the "actual" T-REX PADDOCK!!!! Why do I say it's the best? Even though it's boring?? Because it's insanely suspenseful. Who wants to see old-Rexy before the film? NO-ONE! So, you click on it thinking "Holy Moly, will I see her??" and you don't, but, what's awesome, is that she's THERE. She's definitely in Jurassic World, or at least, her Paddock is. But it looks like she may be hiding, and the suspense is AWESOME.
Why do I say this will make you want to go [Jurassic World](movie:32752)?
Aside from the fact that it's got a Hilton hotel, awesome (yes, I say that world a lot in real life too) tickets, awesome attractions, and awesome dinosaurs, it simply, looks, AWESOME. The website, is super-realistic. The park cameras show it off gloriously because you can see the theme park from a potential visitors perspective and it looks really cool, and bustling, and modern, and theme-parky.
The website gives you all the information you'd want if you were thinking of going and the park looks like the Disneyland attraction they never had. It is a beautiful piece of film marketing, and it's sleek, child-friendly, modern design is better than practically any website I've seen, let alone film websites.
Quite simply, the website IS the theme park's website. The sets are realistic enough to make the images perfect and the website highlights that beautifully.
I've shown you what I wanted to show you, now, search it yourself and have a look and I guarantee you won't be disappointed, unless of course you can't access it, in which case you might be disappointed, but I can't help that.
So yeah, thanks for reading and I'll leave you with three last hilarious (to us in the know) easter eggs of images, both from the Safety First page.
I know, you lol'd at the last one didn't you! ;)
