As Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is coming soon and the trailers look amazing, I thought it would be a good idea to finally see the first film. Rise of the Planet of the Apes revolves around the story of Caesar a super intelligent ape who was given higher brain function in the testing of an experimental drug that aims to repair brain cells.
There are a few good things about this movie, which include: good acting, an enjoyable story, good CGI and the links to the old films were pretty cool. The acting in this film is pretty solid and the motion capture skills of Andy Serkis are great as always, also the story was quite enjoyable and had a good ending. The links to the original films were neat but Malfoy saying 'take your stinking paw off me you damn dirty ape' instead of Charlton Heston isn't quite the same.
There are also a few negatives about this film, which include: the story slows down a bit half way through and the story isn't outstanding. Around half way through the film the story progresses a lot slower, it wasn't as bad as Transcendence but still not that much happened; also even though the story is enjoyable it isn't amazing it is just ok.
Taking everything into consideration this film is good and enjoyable but not great, so with that in mind I rate this film:
