All that anyone seems to be talking about at the moment in the sphere of Video Games is From Software's modern masterpiece, Bloodborne. And of course, there's a reason for that. We already have people, even at large gaming publications like IGN, announcing it as a contender for Game of the Year. Its release date was only a few weeks ago! But one thing is for certain, it is the greatest game to arrive on a current generation platform for sure.

But of course, there's plenty more that we can expect from Japan this year! And people say that JRPGs are dying. One of the most anticipated release dates of the year from the Eastern side of the planet, comes with the return of the extraordinary Persona franchise, with Persona 5. Does it have what it takes to take on Bloodborne for JRPG of the year on its release date?

Could Bloodborne Beat Persona 5 for JRPG of the Year?

We all like to look forward to things, and naturally, seeing as Bloodborne is one of the greatest experiences I've had with a console game in a while, I want the year to get better. Though I'm not entirely sure if that's going to happen. I'm a great fan of Megamei Tensei games, especially Persona 4 and Nocturne. And I have to say, that Persona 5 probably has the best trailer of the year already!

Katsura Hashino is directing Persona 5 for PS4 and PS3. He's the directing legend behind both Persona 3, and Persona 4, while also the producer on other Megami Tensei titles. The man has given us some of the deepest RPGs we've seen in years, and I seriously don't doubt his genius. But do you guys think that his title can match with that of Hidetaka Miyazaki's?

Of course, we're all biased when it comes down to these things, and at the moment I'm enveloped in the awesomeness of Bloodborne. It's dominating my thoughts and yes I've actually dreamt about it. I myself can't see another title topping it this year, but that doesn't mean that Persona 5 can't actually be a better game on its release date!

Could Persona 5 Be A Contender for Game of the Year?

Game of the Year is hopefully going to be a tough one to call in 2015. There are so many titles on the horizon, and with Bloodborne already making an exceptional case for the award, the year can only get better with the likes of The Witcher 3 and [Batman: Arkham Knight](tag:2683936) on the way. But could we really see Atlus' Persona 5 be in the running?

I'm already thinking that Persona 5 has some of the best art direction of the year. I can't stop watching the endless beauty of that gameplay trailer! But fans of the series, no is your time to shine! What do you think makes Persona 5 one of the most exciting titles of the year? Do you think it will have what it takes to take on Bloodborne on its release date?
