Today I sat down to watch a classic that I love, Starship Troopers; the movie follows a bunch of soldiers waging a war against alien arachnids. The film is directed by Paul Verhoeven and stars Neil Patrick Harris, Dina Mayer and Casper Van Dien.

There are a few positives to this film which include: great action, great humour and there are a lot of very memorable scenes. Throughout the film there are great action sequences full of gore, and the best bit is that there is a lot of humour mixed in which makes this film all the more enjoyable; certain scenes in this film are very memorable especially the knife training scene.

There are also a few negatives, which are: the acting is ok but not great, the story isn't outstanding but is still enjoyable, the pacing is slow at the start and the CGI is shoddy in places. For the first 30 minutes or so not a lot happens and it is not as enjoyable as the second half, but once they get into training and actually start fighting is when the movie gets awesome. Also in certain places the CGI is absolutely awful, it isn't that large of a negative as its the 90's and most films had bad CGI; however apart from those few places the CGI is extremely good for its time.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film again and even though there are some flaws, the movie is still extremely enjoyable so I rate it:
