First off,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SMG!

Now... Before The Avengers, Joss Whedon created television history! Turns out that revamping his tired film adaptation of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was one of the smartest decisions in his life! Forget 90210... This was the '90s!

Many people underestimate what a masterpiece BtVS really is, which is why I've assembled this well thought out list. So if you want to get your friends into Buffy, then just show them one of these amazing episodes!

#10 "She couldn't have dressed up like Xena?" (Halloween)

Season 2, Episode 6
Season 2, Episode 6

Willow's dead (well, sort of.), Xander's got his military cap on. Buffy's gone all 18th-century. And Cordelia may, or may not, be a cat. What can't you love about this episode?!

My favorite part: when 18th-century-Buffy sees a car for the first time... "Demon! It's a demon!"

#9 "The earth is definitely doomed." (Chosen)

Season 7, Episode 22
Season 7, Episode 22

Buffy definitely ended with a bang, what with not one but two of the main characters getting killed off. Oh, and the whole apocalypse thing (how many had it been by then?)

Not the greatest series finale in the world, mostly because of all the loose ends that needed tying. For example: is the First dead now? Whatever, it was still one hell of a final episode!

#8 "This world's no fun..." (Doppelgangland)

Season 3, Episode 16
Season 3, Episode 16

Who doesn't miss Doppelgänger Willow? I know I do! She was fun, frisky, and lesbo before the real Willow even knew it!

Interesting fact: Joss Whedon decided to make this episode after how much he, along with countless fans, fell in love with Doppelgänger Willow in The Wish.

#7 "I gave birth to a pterodactyl." (Once More, With Feeling)

Season 6, Episode 7
Season 6, Episode 7

Who would've ever thought that a television series about vampires would live long enough to have a musical episode? Joss did, and he made sure to make it one that'd go down in history!

"Life's a show, and we all have our partsss. And when the music staaarts, we open up our heartsss!"

#6 "Buffy... Is it really you?" (Bargaining)

Season 6, Episode 1 & 2
Season 6, Episode 1 & 2

When Buffy died, for the second time, people actually believed that she was gone for good (especially with the WB promoting the fifth season finale as the "WB Series Finale.")

Fortunately the show was resurrected on UPN, along with Buffy! This episode was very dark, sad, and filled with mixed emotions (which pretty much sums up Season 6.)

#5 "I may be dead. But I'm still pretty." (Prohecy Girl)

Season 1, Episode 12
Season 1, Episode 12

It must've been this scene that made me fall in love with Buffy. It was only the first season finale, yet it was impossible not to feel for her!

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that if it wasn't for this episode, there wouldn't have been a Season 2.

#4 "Aaaaaahhhhhh!" (Hush)

Season 4, Episode 10
Season 4, Episode 10

One of the most brilliant episodes in BtVS history, Hush did what not many could: create an entire story line with no dialogue whatsoever! (It wasn't until the very end that they spoke again.)

Not to mention, who else was mortified by the Gentleman? I know I was!

#3 "Mom. Mom. Mommy?" (The Body)

Season 5, Episode 16
Season 5, Episode 16

One of the most emotional episodes I've ever seen on television; this one even gave the Emmys a run for their money by giving it a nomination!

It was this episode that proved that BtVS wasn't just a show about real-life monsters, but the ones that we encounter on a daily basis.

#2 "No friends. No family. No hope. Take all that away, and what do you have left?" (Becoming)

Season 2, Episode 21 & 22
Season 2, Episode 21 & 22

One of the strongest story lines in BtVS is that of the ironic love affair between the slayer and the vampire. This relationship had many ups-and-downs, but its overall downfall was definitely when she killed him (that'd definitely f*** up a relationship.)

I still think Buffy could take down Angel any day!

#1 "R.I.P. Buffy Summers. She saved the world. A lot." (The Gift)

Season 5, Episode 22
Season 5, Episode 22

By far the most touching, heart-felt, and perfectly executed episode in the entire show! All Buffy lovers around the world wept like there was no tomorrow when she decided to sacrifice herself in order to save the world (me, included!).

"The hardest thing in this world is to live in it. Live. For me."
