No surprises this weekend as "Furious 7" continues to race through the weekend at the #1 spot with another 60.6 million. A big drop from the previous week but enough to place it over 250 mil cume for the domestic box office. The wheels are still rolling on this and should make its way to 300 mil easily. Still holding strong at #2 is "Home" with an extra 19 mil as it reaches 129 mil cume. New at #3 is "The Longest Ride" with 13.5 mil and right about expectations. Not much on this film and should burn out pretty fast. Holding on to #4 is "Get Hard" with another 8.6 mil and continues to slow down. Rounding off the top 5 is "Cinderella" with 7.2 mil more and making a slow climb to 200 mil cume.
New movies next week:
Three new wide releases coming up this weekend as we quickly approach the Summer season. Up first on about 2000 screens is Disney's nature series films "Monkey Kingdom." Should open to around 5 to 7 mil which may sound low but the production of these films is very low and these are mostly re-releases from TV to the big screen. Up next is the sequel to the sleeper hit from a few years ago, "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2" with about 3600 screens. Should do well for an opening weekend and look for it past 20 mil. With about 2600 screens is the horror film "Unfriended" that is estimated to be in the mid-20's but I think it may be a bit less than those expectations.
