Not to be dissuaded from the lackluster Box Office performance of Dracula Untold, Universal Pictures is sticking to their classic monsters arc and keeping a reboot of The Creature from the Black Lagoon viable.

Tracking Board reports that modern pin-up sensation Scarlett Johansson is being 'courted' for the heroine role for the new Creature from the Black Lagoon project, which seems like a great casting move for driving revenue.

Directors John Carpenter, Gary Ross, Breck Eisner and Guillermo Del Toro have been linked to the project on previous occasions, though the current team is said to be working from a script penned by Dave Kajganich of Invasion fame.

Here's a reminder of the joys of the original 1954 Creature From the Black Lagoon, which will perhaps serve as a style template for the reboot...

However, my cynical senses tell me that Scarlett Johansson + water x the Hollywood lens may end up looking something like this...
