In my opinion, the scene where Rachel Green decides to put her horrendous culinary skills to use is one of the best episodes in the series. If you remember correctly, in 'The One Where Ross Got High' in Friends, she gets the pages of a recipe book stuck together and accidentally makes a weird trifle-Shepherd's Pie hybrid. Relive the disgusting moment in the clip below:
Quite frankly, even imagining eating all of that jam and beef, sautéed with peas and onions, is enough to make me want to vomit. And the worst thing is, is that one man has gone and re-created the terrible pie in real-life.
Firstly, take a look at Twitter user Neil K!llham's ingredients:
He stocked up on jam, sponge, custard, raspberries, bananas, lamb, peas, onions and whipped cream before getting stuck into the cooking process. When he was asked why he controversially decided to use a different type of meat for the filling, he gave a pretty good reason for diverting away from Rachel's original recipe:
"It’s the same layers, except I’ve used a different sponge instead of ladyfingers and I didn’t make the custard myself. I also replaced the beef with lamb because it’s supposed to be half shepherd’s pie, not cottage pie. I checked a shepherd’s pie recipe and added a couple of other things to the meat to make it a bit more interesting."
The end result:
It doesn't look particularly appetizing!
This dinner-party guest didn't think so either...
Thankfully, Neil was not too upset by his guests' reactions. Referencing Ross's description of the dessert in the show, he later tweeted:
"Well, this trifle doesn't taste like feet at least... It is fucking horrible though."
Would you try it?
Some things you just can't un-see. Pass me the bucket, please.
