With the [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035) less than a month away, this will complete Phase 2 in the Marvel cinematic universe. With a numerous amount of titles in the works to expand Marvel movie collection even moreand make Phase 3 its biggest, where do the previous movies rank? Here is where I think these movies rank, my ranking will be based on expectation, story, and scale within the MCU.

10. Iron Man 2

This was one of most underwhelming sequels on this list. This movie was like a light advertisement for the Avengers. There was no in deep story to keep me invested and it was more comedy than an action movie. The villains were basically sitting around talking about a bird. Really bad guys?!

9. Iron Man 3

I thought this was the most disappointing sequel after already having a very lackluster sequel. Some people are split on this movie and thought it was really good... I am not one of these people. There were numerous issues I had with the movie, but one of the most glaring issues was that Tony Stark was barely in his armor and.... The Mandarin, oh yes, The Mandarin! The Mandarin, not the Mandarin, instead it was an actor... whatever. I am over that one, however, my biggest issue was the Extremis integration into the movie. The comic version was immensely better and darker. It was only one person that had Extremis because it was far too unstable to mass produce. Aldrich Killian killed himself in the first few pages of the book. Bottom line, as a series, this a fail to me. What did Tony lose in these movies? NOTHING!!! A house, his fault... and that's it. Thank God for Avengers 2, the actual better Iron Man sequels.

8. The Incredible HULK

This was a decent movie, I almost see this as the apology movie for 2004's The HULK was that terrible. This was definitely a better HULK movie, but because of creative differences between Edward Norton and the Director, this movie falls down this list. Not to mention, this version of the HULK was not quite the HULK we were looking for. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the film, the action was solid, and to the most part, the acting was good. But after The Avengers HULK, I can't consider the HULK in this movie Incredible. Even though this movie had Tony Stark in a post movie scene, it is the only movie on this list that fits the least with the MCU.

7. Captain American: The First Avenger

Steve Rogers signs up to fight
Steve Rogers signs up to fight

You can't have The Avengers without him... you could, but they will suck without him. The final piece before The Avengers movie could fully assemble was the first Avenger, Captain America. This was good movie, not earth shattering, except for that technology that shrunk Chris Evans into sickly Steve Rogers....they really did shrink him, this not a head swap. This was a sub par action movie, but the thing they got right, which was most important, they got Steve Rogers right. Actually, my favorite part of the movie was skinny Steve Rogers. Go figure.

6. [Thor: The Dark World](movie:206462)

This was a really good sequel, even though the villain was a little watered down, and this was centered around Jane Foster (yuck), and about THOR's decision to be king or not, commit to, err, Jane Foster, and cautiously trying to reestablish a relationship again with his brother Loki, post Avengers event. Aside from Captain America, THOR, movie wise, seemed to lose more than any Avenger on this list. Speaking of Captain America, great Cameo!

5. [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073)

The Guardians of the Galaxy team up!
The Guardians of the Galaxy team up!

Probably the biggest Marvel movie risk, ever, and it paid off, big time! A motley crew that was compiled of an Earthling, two intergalactic warriors, a talking raccoon, and a tree? Well it worked, it was fun, had a great soundtrack, and they are a part of the Marvel phases. With a awesome cameo of Thanos. Some expected him to play a larger role in the film, but I would have been surprised if he threw a single punch. Nonetheless, this a great start for the Guardians, I can't wait to find out what else is on Awesome Mix Vol. 2!

I really love this movie! The more I watch it, the more it grows on me. After The Avengers and the THOR sequel, you can see in this movie how far he has come. Watching him as a bratty arrogant Norse God, later banished, humbled, and then sacrifice himself, finally earning his powers back was very compelling. Even Loki's transformation is intriguing. He has come a long way to where he is now, the most popular Marvel villain to date. I could watch this movie again right now, that is how much I enjoy this movie. Another fine cameo was Hawkeye... why did he look more baddass in this movie than in The Avengers?! I am still trying to figure that one out.

3. Iron Man

The one that started it all. I have to be honest with you, when I first heard about the Iron Man movie, I had zero response. When they had cast Robert Downey Jr. for the role, I was like, "This movie is going to suck, bad!" I couldn't be more wrong! RDJ is Iron Man... he is different a little from the comic, but not by much. This is the best Marvel origin story movie thus far. The detail on the Iron Man suit was simply amazing, not mention the whole movie. If it wasn't for a few movies on this list, it would undoubtedly be number one.

2. [Captain America: The Winter Soldier](movie:254973)

Until The [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035) comes out... This is the BEST Marvel sequel EVER! Certainly the best solo film of any of the Avengers crew. Captain America in the present, a more polished super soldier and still very virtuous and more intense. They certainly amped up the action in this cloak and dagger thriller. With the additions of the titled character, The Winter Soldier, Falcon, Black Widow, and the infiltration of S.H.I.E.L.D. via Hydra, this movie far and away gave us a sequel for the ages. This movie has the highest stakes affecting The Avengers sequel and directly affecting the Agents of SHIELD series. And with Civil War being Captain America's next not so solo movie, essentially Avengers 2.5, Captain America is just getting better and more significant than any Avenger on screen. Sorry Tony.

1. The Avengers

As much as I love The Winter Soldier I have to put the Avengers number one. A few reasons... 1st, Four origin movies were made to set The Avengers movie up, never been done before...and they pulled it off. According Josh Whedon, it was not up to the standards he was looking for, but plans to completely outdo his 1st installment by a mile. 2nd, some of the best Marvel superheroes were on the same screen at the same time, freaking awesome! 3rd, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) was absolutely hands down the greatest surprise and the thrill of this movie... well, don't tell the HULK that, he was great too. He was hitting on all cylinders. He was funny, charming, plays the "daddy doesn't love me" card to the letter. The fact that Tom's performance stood out even against already established stars like it wasn't even a challenge, really stands out in my mind. This was a grand slam, there is nothing else say except, this is my ranking for the Marvel movies thus far. Please comment below, how would you rank these Marvel movies?
