Naughty Dog have a rich and varied history to draw from in terms of franchises. Though I must admit, I never thought I'd see them continue with Nathan Drake all the way to Uncharted 4 A Thief's End, especially after Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter only made it to three. But now that the PS4 is eagerly awaiting the arrival of its first Uncharted entry (though we may see a PS4 remastered trilogy first), Naughty Dog fans can't help but be excited for the possibilities that lie before us!
But were there actually other release date possibilities? Did Naughty Dog sit down and discuss the notion of a new IP or maybe even Jak and Daxter 4 before deciding on Uncharted 4? If the option had been presented to you months ago, which game would you have chosen to get a release date in Spring of 2016?
The Possibility of Jak and Daxter 4 Over Uncharted 4
When we look at the likes of Naughty Dog's Jak and Daxter and Crash Bandicoot, and even insomniac Games' Spyro, it really does seem like this form of game hasn't transferred over to current gen consoles. They were truly unique and a lot of my childhood was spent with these tremendous classics. Jak 2 is still probably my favourite of all of them, and I'd love to see the series arrive on the PS4 with a release date for Jak 4. But will that ever happen?
Uncharted is obviously a far more successful series for Naughty Dog. The franchise has a well established name and its blockbuster appeal has brought millions of players to try out Nathan Drake's breathtaking ventures. Jak 4 would probably generate a lot less income, but who's to say that it couldn't surpass Uncharted 4?
I'd love to ask the fan base of these games really. If you were presented with the choice, where would your loyalties have lied? Is the thought of Jak and Daxter 4 something that would get you hyped? Or is Uncharted 4 the ultimate game that Naughty Dog could have given a release date?
Personally, I have my issues with the Uncharted series. Though the set pieces are literally unbelievable, I've always struggled with its shooting mechanics. It doesn't feel as responsive or fun as other 3rd person shooters, or even [The Last of Us](movie:1190382). Hopefully Nathan Drake has worked on his aim for the next instalment in the franchise!
So Naughty Dog fans, which release date would you pick for the PS4? Are you waiting on the edge of your seat for Nathan Drake's next adventure in Uncharted 4 A Thief's End? Do you miss the days of Jak and Daxter? Be sure to let us know in the comments!
Crash Bandicoot & Your Favourite Naughty Dog Game
One other area within the history of Naughty Dog's work that I'd love to get player's opinions on is Crash Bandicoot! Are those of you that find yourselves in love with the [Uncharted](movie:583414) series and The Last of Us, pining for the return of Crash Bandicoot? Do you miss the days of yore when these sort of titles were all the rage? Crash Bandicoot was a fantastic series after all!
But what for you was the highlight of this company's career? Which title holds the most sentimental value for you as a gamer? Naughty Dog has a rich history to draw from, and it's immensely exciting to think of what they could create for the future of the PS4! Be sure to let us know which game in their oeuvre holds the top position for you.
