Tony Ulysses Announces

Hey there movie fans! It's your friendly neighborhood Tony here with another SIIIIIICK article! I've been seeing a lot of Fantasy Castings, and I just finished watching the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime series, so here are my casting choices for a live-action adaptation! (We won't talk about G-Saviour because it was trash...)

Today I'll be casting just a few major characters from the series, so buckle up, get on the catapult, and PREPARE TO LAUNCH! Oh, and here's some music to get you pumped for the casting! Also, I'm time traveling A TON to get these actors!

Shia LaBeouf (circa 2006) as Amuro Ray

Back before the whole paper bag thing...
Back before the whole paper bag thing...

I know some of you will be pissed at the casting of LaBeouf, but let's look back at a younger Shia; a Shia untainted by Hollywood fortune and glory; a Shia with just enough acting chops to carry a sci-fi action flick, which Mobile Suit Gundam certainly is! Amuro is hot-headed and inexperienced, and also has a tendency to whine about his responsibilities, but in the end, he is exactly the man for the job, fighting for his own survival as well as the prosperity of peace! We've seen Shia LaBeouf take on a similar role as Saw Witwicky from Transformers, and as a young man, he would be able to channel the intensity and desperation of the role convincingly. Assuming the studios didn't throw buckets of money at him and then leave.

Val Kilmer (circa 1986) as Char Aznable

Yeah, I can see the resemblance!
Yeah, I can see the resemblance!

For the legendary Zeon ace pilot Char Aznable, I choose Val Kilmer from Top Gun! As Iceman, Kilmer brought his swagger and levelheadedness to the forefront, portraying a man with precise and focused flying, and enough confidence to intimidate younger amateurs. Char Aznable is the Red Comet, a man who shot down five battleships in a single sortie, as well as dueling the Gundam suit multiple times, and is the most feared soldier of the Zeon forces. I think young Val Kilmer could easily bring the necessary presence and prowess to bear in this role, and would be a fearsome enemy for Shia LaBeouf's Amuro to try and overcome.

Clint Eastwood (circa 1955) as Bright Noa

Seems legit!
Seems legit!

Captain Bright Noa of the White Base unit is inexperienced, but what he lacks in seasoning he more than makes up for in vigor and natural talent! Plus he knows how to pull off a uniform! Who better to portray the tough, confident leader than Clint Eastwood, A.K.A. The Man With No Name, Harry Callahan, and numerous other iconic movie protagonists! A young version of Eastwood would be perfect as the relatively untrained leader of a rag-tag group of underage pilots because he could bring his intensity to the screen even in his youth, and we all know what young Clint will eventually accomplish as an actor and director! I'd want him as my captain!

Jennifer Lawrence (circa 2014) as Sayla Mass

JLaw could be in anything!
JLaw could be in anything!

Sayla Mass is the resident G-Fighter pilot on the White Base, and although she isn't a formally trained soldier, she manages to fight on equal footing with the men AND still look good doing it! Jennifer Lawrence has proven time and again that she has the acting chops to pull off most roles, and she's tough as hell, (See The Hunger Games and X-Men: Days of Future Past for reference) so I could definitely see her play Sayla effectively. Also, I'd love to see the interplay between Lawrence's Sayla and Kilmer's Char because in the show they are siblings on opposing sides in the One Year War. JLaw just kicks ass, so let's give her the job!

Christian Bale (circa 2005) as Gihren Zabi

The baddest of the bad!
The baddest of the bad!

This casting decision was tough, because Gihren Zabi, the tyrannical leader of the Zeon forces, needed someone who could be intimidating, brutal, but also able to rally his people with rousing speeches and dramatic flair! Christian Bale would be able to pull off all of these elements and then some! With the right mixture of character components from his work in Equilibrium, American Psycho, and Batman Begins, Bale could easily emanate a calculating, charismatic evildoer! I'm confident that his rendition of some of Gihren's iconic speeches would be soul-shaking to say the least! I'm sure there would be other contenders, but few could fit the diverse needs of this deadly leader!

That's all for now! Who would YOU cast in these roles? Which anime would YOU like to see made into a live-action movie? (SOOOO stoked for Attack On Titan!) Thanks for reading, folks, and feel free to check out my profile for all your article needs! I'm Tony, and as always, have a KILLER day! Muhuhahaha!
