This past weekend was MegaCon 2015 in Orlando and I had my first ever table in their Artist Alley. It was a wonderful experience and I met so many fans I never knew I had.
I made the decision just over 2 years ago to take a giant leap in a direction that was completely out of my comfort zone and start selling my art on various and sundry websites online.
I'm highly influenced by my love of movies, classic paintings, shows, and books among others. I had a lot of people ask me about how I thought of coming up with some of my mashup designs. My answer: I love both things, so why not make them better by combining them?
I was raised on Disney movies - my family owns about 90% of them on VHS. Disney has always influenced me and I've always loved classic paintings. So it only made sense to make classic paintings/sketches based on the two for this collection
Above, is "Mistress of Evil" which is based on Margritte's "Son of Man" painting.
My "Return from the Well" piece is based off of Bouguereau's "Le Retour de Marche" (Return from the Market).
I also did a piece for a friend with her favorite princess, Ariel. Based on "The Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Vermeer.
While, this style is not my normal style, I do like changing things up and learning new techniques and styles. My main style is a more cartoon-like version, which I'll show in another post.
