Amid the director's departure, a new director coming on board and a whole smorgasbord of rumors, I could really use a Lasso of Truth right now to sort out fact from fiction when it comes to Warner Bros. and DC's upcoming [Wonder Woman](movie:45787) movie.
One of the most persistent rumors is that Scott Eastwood (son of Clint) will be playing Steve Trevor, Diana's primary love interest and part-time pain in her ass. These rumors were supposedly corroborated when it was reported that Eastwood would be appearing in a small role in [Suicide Squad](movie:2283363) that would build up to a larger role in Wonder Woman. Recent news tells a different story. Here's a visual representation of how Diana responded to the news of Eastwood joining the DC team.
According to Variety (which broke the news about Michelle MacLaren leaving the project), while Scott Eastwood will be appearing in Suicide Squad, he will NOT be playing Steve Trevor.
Supposedly, there are four actors on the short list who will be testing for the role, but no other details are known at this point.
Now that Patty Jenkins, who was once slated to direct Thor 2, is at the helm for Wonder Woman, we may have to wait a bit for her retooling of the project. However, in my mind, this is the next major announcement that needs to come out of this movie, and with Suicide Squad already filming, Wonder Woman needs to lock down their cast to get going.
