I heard a lot of good buzz about this film, but never got the chance to check it out. But now I finally did, and it exceeded my expectations.
The movie is thrilling and when ever Miles Teller has to do a performance in front of Fletcher (J.K. Simmons) it's nail biting. You never know if he'll screw up or if Fletcher will like it. It's surprising and somewhat scary at times because you know how cruel Fletcher can be.
The performances were excellent in the film. I'm so glad J.K. Simmons won an Oscar for best supporting actor. Miles Teller also did a fantastic job in it and this movie really showed his acting chops.
The characters are written into the movie beautifully. Fletcher is the guy we love to hate and Tellers's character is the one you root for no matter what. They are believable, realistic and just great characters all around.
One of the biggest parts of this film is the music. The score was tremendous, as it should be in a movie like this. I loved hearing the music and it just added more emotion to the scene.
This movie was incredible and it is very inspiring because it is a smaller film, that did very well. I love hearing when small films or passion projects get love.
Whiplash gets a 10/10 and it became my #1 movie of 2014, topping Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. If you haven't seen Whiplash yet (which you probably have) check it out right now!
